Batman: Arkham Origins - Cold, Cold Heart

High-Def Digest
21 June 2014
  • Summary: Since before the release of the prequelesque ' Batman: Arkham Origins ' Warner Bros. has teased a single-player DLC episode, and before 2013 ended, the first details of 'Batman: Arkham Origins - Cold, Cold Heart' became public. Set for the New Year's Eve following 'Origins' Christmas, the teasers showed what looked like a Wayne Manor awards ceremony crashed by Freeze and co.

Batman: Arkham Origins -- Cold, Cold Heart

IGN
25 April 2014
  • Conclusion: More Batman is always good, and freeze rays change up brawls in an interesting way, but I’m disappointed that Cold, Cold Heart doesn’t do anything new with Mr. Freeze’s story or boss battle.
  • Pros: More Batman, Freeze-ray thugs, Predator fights
  • Cons: Unoriginal story, Thermal Gauntlets

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

maximum pc
14 April 2014
  • Summary: Aside from multiplayer, the overall sense of déjà vu throughout Origins is so regular that the game feels more like a game-length flashback set within the previous installment, rather than a distinct experience. Granted, Origins is modeled after the very satisfying experience of the previous game, Arkham City, so it never strays into the outright regrettable. But it never fully emerges from that long shadow, either.
  • Pros: Continues a proven model of gratuitous face-kicking and high production values.
  • Cons: Feels like super-sized DLC; story not as tight; combat is less satisfying.

  • Summary: The first two Batman Arkham games, Asylum and City, proved that titles based on comic book characters can deliver exceptional interactive experiences, provided they receive a lot of love and care and are made by experienced teams like Rocksteady
  • Pros: +Impressive origins story for Batman, +Lots of interesting twists, +Multiplayer has potential
  • Cons: -Not enough new elements in terms of combat, -Some glitches are still present, -Multiplayer is a bit hard to understand

Batman: Arkham Origins

Game Vortex
20 November 2013
  • Excerpt: Batman: Arkham City is not an act anyone wants to follow. Rocksteady Games' engrossing, shocking tribute to the Dark Knight is one of the finest games ever made, and so is Arkham Asylum , the title that preceded it. With Rocksteady out of the spotlight, it's up to the newly christened Warner Bros. Games Montréal to steward this already strong franchise through the end of its infancy.

Batman: Arkham Origins

High-Def Digest
14 November 2013
  • Summary: The third installment of the 'Batman: Arkham' series is upon us, and with the Unreal 3-powered series not ready to make the jump to the Xbox One and PS4, the next best thing is PC version. After 'Arkham Asylum' and 'Akrham City,' Rocksteady Studios has moved on for now to another likely related project leaving Warner Bros. Games Montréal to move the franchise forward.

PCGamer Online
4 November 2013
  • Conclusion: Enjoyable in places and very pretty, but sadly blighted by sloppy design, terrible boss battles, and a lack of new ideas.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Strategy Informer
3 November 2013
  • Conclusion: If you’re a Batman fan you should already have Batman: Arkham Origins , but anyone else might want to hold off a couple of weeks for some patches to come through. Even with the bugs though I enjoyed the game all the way through for the 15-20 hours it took me to finish (without having done all the side missions yet), and will once again be combing back-alleys and rooftops for those hidden Riddler/Enigma goodies before tackling the Challenge Maps and New Game Plus.

DLC Review: Batman Arkham Origins – Cold, Cold Heart [PC/PS3/Xbox360]

push-start.co.uk
1 May 2014
  • Excerpt: Taking place after the events of Arkham Origins , “Cold, Cold Heart” follows the story of Victor Fries, an uninvited guest that barges into the humanitarian recognition event, and leaves everyone frozen in his path. Unfortunately for him, Mr. Wayne is hosting the event, and we all know who he is. As Penguins goons start swarming around Wayne’s mansion, he is called to action once again as The Caped Crusader.
  • Pros: + Batman being Batman
  • Cons: - Lackluster boss fight - Unoriginal - Badly designed difficulty spikes - Doesn't pack the same emotional punch Heart Of Ice Did - Damn thing made me Ruin my A button
