As we've already discussed in the main body of our review, Batman: Arkham Asylum features undoubtedly the best application of PhysX in a PC game title to date - While it doesn't make a difference to actual gameplay (and how we yearn for a day when GPU-calculated physics will be used in a fashion beyond mere eye candy), it does add to the visual polish and overall feel of the game, notably so in some instances. In Batman: Arkham Asylum, you are given a chance to assume the role of Batman as he delivers The Joker to Gotham Cities famed Arkham Asylum. There, the imprisoned super-villains have set a trap and an immersive combat gaming experience unfolds. With an original script the game brings the universe of DC Comics' caped crusader to life with stunning graphics. Read more

If you have played any Batman games in the past then you know that these games have a long history of disappointing fans. It looks as though the disappointment has finally ended with Batman: Arkham Asylum from Rocksteady Studios. I suggest that you throw out any bad notions that you may have about superhero games where the Dark Knight is concerned. Read more

Since his 1939 debut, Batman has always been about one man’s struggle with his own demons. You’ve got Bruce Wayne; Gotham’s most well-known millionaire, philanthropist and playboy by day trying to maintain a sense of normalcy while patrolling the streets as a masked vigilante at night. How does one man balance both lives? Read more

Finally, it seems that we have a generation of gaming consoles that are capable of representing what it’s like to really be the super heroes we’ve dreamed about while growing up. Batman: Arkham Asylum gives you everything you’d ever want in a game. Of course you get to beat up all of the bad guys, but you get to solve a bunch of puzzles like a master detective, sneak around the room to silently pick off henchman, and platform yourself across a series of gargoyles... As far as video games are concerned, Batman hasn’t been very lucky. With the exception of a great NES game based on the first Tim Burton movie, all efforts to make a game with Batman have been below average or just mediocre. It’s not for lack of trying, some games had you beating up hordes of goons while others had you using stealth gameplay to uncover the game. Unfortunately, none of it worked. Read more

If you've read the reviews then you KNOW what to expect! This game does NOT disappoint. Graphics kick the game off nicely and the story, puzzles, voice acting . . . the whole she-bang is wrapped up SO nicely, you couldn't ask for anything better! Well, just short of suiting-up yourself, throwing on a utility belt and taking on the job yourself . . . the game GETS IT DONE. GET YOU SOME!! Did I mention the 3D? Read more

I have used computers for decades and know my way around installation problems but none of that experience helped me with this mess. I have yet been able to play the game. Windows Live Games demands a sign in before continueing and allowing the player to save games. But, that's where it all breaks down. You MUST install an update from Windows Live Games before continueing and that's where everything fails. I use Windows Live, I have an account but none of that helps. Read more or see product

I'm not a huge DC/Marvel fan but this is the best super hero game I've ever played. Game was very entertaining and while I'll never forget Heath Ledger's performance in "The Dark Knight", I'd have no problem seeing this version of the Joker in the next movie. Read more

The reinvention of the Batman franchise by Christopher Nolan has given us the audience a need for all things batty. With a rather shallow movie related game being the only means of playing this new improved Batman , being our only chance so far. However now with the game Batman: Arkham Asylum we get treated to being the world’s greatest detective in all his dark and knightly self. Read more

Overall Batman:  The Dark Asylum has a great atmosphere,  exemplary soundtrack,  amazing game-play,  enough additional content and still manages to be non-linear.  The only minus this game has,  is that after you play it a lot the surroundings may give you a deja-vu feeling because the environment is sometimes repetitive. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a PC game for avid fans of the well-known superhero. The background story in this game has been written by the renowned Batman author, Paul Dini. This game is developed by Rocksteady Studios and it is slated to be released in the summer of 2009. Much anticipation prior to its release, fans can look forward to realistic graphics and a different setting in this game. Nathan Whitman, an associate producer at Warner Bros.’ videogame division, is proud of the way Batman’s cape is coming along in the game Batman: Arkham Asylum. "We’ve got a guy working full-time on cape physics," Whitman says. “We expect Batman Arkham Asylum to not only be the biggest game of the summer but one of the stand-out games of the year,” Eidos’ head of UK marketing Jon Brooke told MCV. “It’s as close to perfect as we’ve ever come; it looks amazing, plays beautifully and has a rich twisting storyline with enormous replayability. I’m confident enough to say that it will set a new benchmark for licensed games and it’s going to establish itself as one of our best games ever.”

Features

In this game, everything would be different from the previous Batman games. Like per say, the superhero’s mantle will not be that stable as it always is. In fact, it will animate and blend with everything that will be going on in this game. Various gameplay options are present so that, in this matter, there will be a higher level gaming with this game. Sources say that following this game, many games in the future will employ the same gameplay tactics. Characters present in this game so far have been notified as the Joker, Commissioner Gordon, Riddler, Harley Quinn (who’s said to look sexier than the usual) and a couple of not-so-famous characters such as Killer Croc and Blue Beetle are also featured. As for the action sequences, the Batman: Arkham Asylum includes two trademark fighting modes which are the FreeFlow™ and the Invisible Predator™. What the FreeFlow mode does is it allows Batman to punch its enemies to consciousness but not death. As for the Invisible Predator mode, it allows you as Batman to combat your enemies silently. Another unconfirmed mode is the investigation mode which is something like scrutinizing the current situation and knowing what and who you are about to deal with. The Croc mode helps to attack your enemies in silence and a little detective work is included as well. In this mode, you will be able to save people as well and by doing so; you will earn points and achievements.
