Summary: Let me first say that I have been playing this game for many years, first getting hooked on iy when it first game out. I purchased few updates over the years, including the updated 2008 version, and thought I would give in and buy one more update. This game is a lot of fun for the baseball fan, and offers a lot of behind the scenes play. The fact that I have played it so long is a testaement to its greatness; the game provides a very realistic recreation of GM duties.
Summary: I haven't personally played this game, but my son loves it! He loves having choices on who is on his team, etc. Definitely worth the $4 I paid for it. I'm actually surprised it is such a nice game for him given the price. I was afraid it wouldn't work well and he'd get frustrated. Seems happy with it! So this is a good game for my elementary aged child. No idea how it would work for adults.
Summary: I'm not sure why this game receives so many accolades every year. The free agency and injury systems are completely broken. It's a fast moving game and very simple to play out a full season. The trouble begins when a player is injured, and then more trouble after the season ends. There is no DL, you just send the injured player to the minors and bring up another player.
Summary: The game has all the stuff that I enjoy. It has a General manger to let the game run thebaseball game. It has a manager for more detail pay. It has all the old teams and allows me to have great my own teams.
Summary: A game for fantasy baseball junkies with no appreciable reflexes. Trades, contracts, minor leagues all handled beautifully, as well as the day to day grunge of ticket prices and stadium management. Game play is not flashy, but still exciting. I love this game and it's an absolute bargain. Do not pick up if you are looking for fancy graphics and lots of realtime action, though.
