Summary: Great! Until March/April 2014. They released a patch on Apple to version 1.3 but not Steam which is still at 1.2. Long story short, my friend's on Mac, I'm PC and now we can no longer play together because of incompatible versions. ***Previous Review*** One of the Best Games...Ever! ...made better! Still just as fun as I remember, but made more so with BG2 character options. Good times, good memories, and still a great game. Well worth it when on-sale.
Summary: This is a compilation of a bunch of mods that you could already get for the original game. This is convenient if you don't feel like spending half the price and 30 minutes downloading your the mods you want on your own. Or you could download your own mods and customize the game for how you want it.
Summary: Baldur's Gate: Great game, and this version had real potential. There are enhancements to make it more like BD2. The problem is that you must go through "Steam" to play the game. In my experience, I end up with a blank screen which is a common occurrence. After doing the fixes, its OK and then returns. There really is no excuse for this. This is an old game and the compatibility issues have been worked out. The problem is the Steam shell. Good idea with poor execution.
Summary: This is the nice prelude to the incredible game that is Baldur's Gate 2. This enhanced edition indeed features some nice welcome enhancements, such as a mouse-wheel powered zoom feature, and better widescreen integration. Sadly, it also comes with an astounding number of glitches that were absent from the original release : some mild you will experience right into the prologue (a quest that cannot be completed, what a first impression!
Summary: I am confused as to what was attempted in this revision of BG. There are some obvious updates but they don't mean that much to me. For example, there is the ability to mouse zoom. Neat but who uses it? In truth it does not mean much to game play. There is also support for widescreen which is nice, possibly even essential if you are going to call your game ready for today's hardware. But again it does not really aid gameplay.
