Summary: I chose this rating because overall it is a good game. I like how the quests are arranged and that you can choose what type of fighter you are. The game is rather short in that when I played, the end game happened a lot more quickly than I expect. That is the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. However it was a good game to play so I recommend it. Especially to teens as it would help their critical thinking when they have to make decisions in game.
Summary: Overall: This game is truly a throwback to the old roll playing games. It has a late 80’s feel to it. It has been fun playing and I would buy this again. Game Play: If you are into the blood, guts and gore of many games today this is not for you. It is fairly linear in its approach, but it does it in such a way that you still have many options. You can do a lot of tasks that are not part of you assigned tasks. It is turn based so quick reaction times are not required.
Summary: Great game for what it is. Plenty of reviews on this. I'll just add that I'm a little older and don't react fast enough for the newer shoot em up type games. This is a nice paced game with a fun story plot for those that want something slower or for those that don't have the newest hi tech computers.
Summary: I've been looking for a turn-based RPG for some time now. I like the style of play where one can plan combat actions rather than rely on fast reflexes and remembering which buttons to push. Avadon: The Black Fortress fits right in with the gold box AD&D games of yesteryear as bing fun to play, requiring planning over twitchy fingers, and essentially providing an experience that brings back memories of pen and paper RPGs.
Summary: Second time playing through. Each time I start as a different character and have a blast working out the best strategies. Hours of fun and addicting. Hate the end game though - I feel like I have to commit 3 hours to it. Maybe it is just my ocd though!
Summary: "Avadon, the Black Fortress" by Spiderweb Software, is a throwback to the days when storytelling and depth of gameplay was paramount in Role Playing Games (RPGs). While this was partly because the computers and graphic cards back in the 80's and early 90's didn't have the pure computing power to display the near lifelike games of today, it was also because a lot of the game designers of the time grew up playing paper-and-pencil roleplaying games, which emphasized story...
Summary: Harkens back to the old TSR Dragonlance titles. Great price for this TBS RPG game. Main quests, side quests, explorer areas, etc are all there. Choices you make in dialogue affect the game as a whole which creates an interesting story and a high level of replayability. Not a hack n slash loot grab game. Character customizations are limited, but adventuring options allow you to have companions to even out your party and provide the skills needed.
Summary: I've always love these types of game. A RPG with a deep story line and companions to venture with you. This is a turn base style game like the old school type. (if you remember "Fallout") Price is great and download was a zip. This can be played on Windows 7 with no problems that I can see. This is a fun game in my opinion.
