  • Summary: It is the best military shooter ever made, maybe i'll install it once again to remember the good old days, the new Arma games are great to, but this one was the base for those games.

  • Summary: This is one of the most realistic games I have ever seen and its a very good looking game as well there's so much user made content its insane. Most people buy this game just because of the many mods and one famous mod is DayZ that is A-mazing.

umm.. hello?

Jared J., Newegg
3 June 2009
  • Summary: There are really cool things you can do to the game, like i said. As far as downloading things and throwing them into your game, there are some total replacement packs out there for arma. The most popular of those is the ACE(advanced combat experience) mod.
  • Pros: This is the best game ever. Im going to try n make my comments about it short. Ive been playing arma for abt 2 years. It will engulf your life. If you are into realism, this game is second to none. If your five years old and like just running and shooting, go find another game. Some of the people...
  • Cons: yes, the game has a few problems. The first- you need a REALLY good computer to run it. Second- you need to download and install all patches for it. Finally- some of the character animations are a little.. unrealistic. But thats not the focus of this game.

Easily the best tactical combat game available today

Gary S., Newegg
14 May 2009
  • Summary: Arma is only intended for tactical players who prefer more realistic combat than other games can provide. As such, you'll either love it or hate it depending on the type of combat you prefer. The vanilla game by itself is only shadow of what is possible in terms of gameplay.
  • Pros: Almost too many to list. If you can think of it, you can probably do it in Arma. A fully articulated scripting language means that modders have created functionality that other games can only dream of. Graphics in the game, for the most part, are stunning - often photo-realistic. Patch 1.14 provi...
  • Cons: Don't bother with the single-player...please! AI could be improved (like any other game) Not good for close quarters combat...at all Not native Vista-compatible but many people have no trouble running Arma in Vista (see forums) No native support for SLI/Crossfire but again, people are doing it (s...

  • Summary: Someone earlier said the graphics are "horrible" on his quad core supercomputer. Well I am only running an Intel Core 2 at 3.5ghz with an 8800GTX (overclocked, but still on stock cooling) and 2gb of ram and I can run the game with a 1680x1050 resolution with all graphics options at their highest and...
  • Pros: Fun game, great graphics, great simulation and a large community dedicated to modding/adding content (makes for some really awesome additions). Making your own missions is easy but the tool is also powerful, allowing for scripting and such.
  • Cons: It's a simulation so you can't get shot a hundred times and still be walking (could be a con for some people). The game by itself wouldn't be worth 5 eggs if it didn't have the modding community it has - it's those additions that make the game the really awesome game it is.

Awesome game

Scott H., Newegg
17 April 2009
  • Summary: My specs: EVGA 790I, Q9450 OC 3.6, 2GB DDR3 1600, EVGA 260GTX, 2 WD Raptors in RAID-0, Vista Ultimate 32. Cant wait for ARMA2.
  • Pros: Open ended game play, there are hundreds of addons and you can make your own as well. Graphics look great not awesome, however ARMA 2 will be out soon!!! Lots of mission possiblites on the huge islands.
  • Cons: It takes time and practice to learn how to use the editor. It can be buggy for example helicopters have problems getting over and through the mountains when they are AI controlled. My complaint: people who listed this game as being poor and said that this game sucks, go by BF2. This is a simulati...

  • Summary: Armed Assault is closest war simulator ever done. It doesn't matter, it has many bugs with physics and such, but it's not the point. The point is to make player know - how it is to be a soldier on battlefield, commander in tank, or pilot in a plane.

Best Multiplayer Game Ever!

Robert D., Newegg
19 October 2007
  • Summary: To anyone who has had problems: Download the most recent patches (As of 10-19-2007, 1.08 is the most recent). The trickey thing about the patches is that you have to download and install them in order (1.02, 1.05, 1.08).
  • Pros: Excellent selection of weapons and vehicles without patches or mods. Great physics with vehicles and aircraft (If you have problems with poor physics, download the most recet patches) Patches and Mods available online with everything you would ever want in a game-new weapons, vehicles, maps, miss...
  • Cons: The AI is very accurate with their shooting, but there is a way to make them less accurate. Graphics are just so-so. Enemies are very skilled (Is this a pro or Con?). Fair campaign and missions.

ARMA

Anonymous, Newegg
20 September 2007
  • Summary: My ten systems were all running generation MOBOs and Video cards and only one out of ten would run Arma. I am working on nine system upgrades at the moment. This is not the fault of BIS or Atari, it is just the evolution of technology. Most low end systems will not run Arma properly.
  • Pros: Arma is the best war sim on the planet. As a combat veteran I greatly appreciate the realism, large maps, intelligent AI, and weapon selection. As some other reviewer have noted, this sim is not for the faint of heart. To date Arma is the closest you can come to the experience of actual combat. I...
  • Cons: NONE Thos who have experienced "bugs" with ARMA need to go to the OFP/ARMA community and to BIS and download all patches. Do the same for video cards and other key hardware components and your "bugs" will likely disappear.
