Area 51 an above average FPS, though only because of its interesting point of view and cool conspiracies. It's not a must-have, but you should definitely rent it sometime. Just don't forget: the truth is out there! Read more
Area 51 was a welcome surprise as initial impressions of the game were that it would be a bargain bin game that was forgotten in a week. However, Area 51 offers a very good single player FPS campaign with a decent storyline that will keep any fan of all action first person shooters happy. The influence of Half-Life, Doom, Halo and many other FPS's is evident and while Area 51 doesn't offer anything particular original it is well worth an extended rental due to it's... Read more
Area 51 is the only action-packed 1st person shooter set in the U.S. government's most secret and secure military facility. The U.S. Army has received a distress signal from Area 51 where a viral outbreak has just shut down the research facility a... Read more
Area 51 is an action-packed first-person shooter that puts you in the role of Ethan Cole, the leader of the HAZMAT Division (hazardous materials) of the U.S. Army, sent to the mysterious Area 51 to help contain a viral outbreak. Equipped with a massive amount of human and alien weapons, you must explore chilling conspiracies such as the extraterrestrial crash at Roswell and the faked lunar landing, in order to solve the enigma of Area 51 before it is too late. The game... Read more
Midway updates an old license but makes only an average shooter that starts strong and fades. Read more
Area 51 takes an intriguing subject and mutates it more than the pathogen that mutates the protagonist's body. Area 51, for some reason, struck me as a brilliant game when I first heard about it. I can't remember if I saw some positive reviews or if the trailers simply appealed to me, but oh how very wrong I was. The story is explained more in the manual than it is in-game, and this is the first of many, many crucial downfalls. You play the role of Ethan Cole, poorly... Read more
The best thing about this game is that it starts with the letter "A", that way it's near the top of the list when you go to add/remove programs to delete it. I wanted to give it at least 2 stars for effort, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm not a big fan of first person shooter games anyway, but this one is pretty awful. The enemy's aim is near perfect and you can get shot hundreds of times, it's cheesy and boring. After going a long way through it there is... Read more or see product
A relatively fair game that was ported from the Arcade. You feel like the game should come with an uzi equipped with a grenade launcher to aim at your monitor, like the old Nintendo days of Duck Shoot. Your basic shoot 'em up arcade game with average graphics. It is the type of game that you play for a while at first, but quickly loose interest in it and use the CD for a drink coaster. Read more
Wasted potential is truly a terrible thing. Midway’s BlackSite: Area 51 isn’t just wasted potential, it’s the very definition of it. To find out exactly where things went awry, take a trip to Google (or your favorite search engine of ... Read more
Fun: At present this game can be downloaded from the Internet for free legitimately, which is what I have done and allows me to view it differently than if I had bought it. Being from the same company as The Suffering it is easy to see parallels, but this product is the inferior of the two. Initially it is very, very average - Good cut scenes voiced by a bored sounding David Duckovny, not bad graphics, average weapons. As with TS, cut scenes and secret files to discover...
