American Conquest

Deaf Gamers
13 May 2005
  • Conclusion: Top drawer RTS gameplay with epic action that even Cecil B. DeMille would have been proud to direct. It's already looking like the RTS of 2003.

American Conquest

Gameguru Mania
22 June 2004
  • Excerpt: American Conquest is historical real-time strategy game from the same team who worked on Cossacks: European Wars and its add-ons. Needless to say that the team is very professional and owing to the RTS development experience gained while working on previous projects. If you ever played Cossacks - battles with thousands of units on the map, you probably already know what I'm talking about.

American Conquest

The Gamers Temple
26 October 2003
  • Excerpt: If you are familiar with the Cossacks games, then American Conquest will appear familiar.  The Cossacks developers have updated the game and adapted it to a new setting, the Americas from 1492 through 1813. While there have been a few games set during the conquest of the New World, the American Revolution has not received much attention.

American Conquest

Game Vortex
6 July 2003
  • Excerpt: American Conquest sports beautiful isometric 3D graphics with lush backdrops that include trees, rock formations, brush, grass, sand, water, and more. Buildings and units are extremely detailed, with excellent animation, and action that moves at a brisk pace even with hundreds of units on-screen at the same time. There are some hiccups, as the animation occasionally slows down briefly, but it's unclear what causes this, and regardless, the visuals are still outstanding.

Game Over Online
7 April 2003
  • Excerpt: GSC Game World and CDV Software teamed up to release Cossacks: European Wars in the spring of 2001. That’s relevant here because GSC also developed American Conquest , and American Conquest uses the Cossacks engine heavily. But even though American Conquest is a historical real-time-strategy game that takes place during the same time period as Cossacks , it’s not just Cossacks with a new paint job to reflect the change in venue.

American Conquest Review

GameSpot
5 February 2003
  • Excerpt: You may be familiar with the Cossacks games from developer GSC Gameworld--they're real-time strategy games reminiscent of the Age of Empires series but set in 17th- and 18th-century Europe, featuring large battles with thousands of individual soldiers. Take a glance at American Conquest, and you may think that it's just the same as Cossacks, since it uses a similar game engine.
