Not for those in a hurry but for everyone with a little time and enthusiasm for realistic strategic civil war combat.

Summary: the game is slow. sometimes achingly slow. but it's brilliant in that it's totally dynamic. you'd be hard-pressed to have the same combat experience as someone else playing the same battle. knowing and not knowing your terrain can help or ruin you. trees, stone walls, crop fields, creeks, roads, height advantages and tons more give bonuses and penalties to speed and defense.
Summary: My husband is a huge Civil War buff and has played many games over the years, but only really enjoyed one of them. He's played it through all of our computer systems going back to Window 3.1. He saw this game recently and wanted to try it. I ordered it for him and he's thrilled with all of the features it has. He has already had many hours of enjoyment and there will be many more, I'm sure.
Summary: At first when reading the information placed here by many of the critiques of this game, I thought to myself....Sure, I'll fork over the cash for this as it's only a few dollars (not like the 50 and 60 dollar games which haven't been out there a little while) and see whether or not this game performs like they all say.....WOW! The interface is excellent and well maintained by the player. The battlefield is well drawn and the scrolling throughout is fantastic.
Summary: I bought this game for my nine year old boy, who is turning into a Civil War buff. He caught on immediately, and my six year old loves it and can play as well. I admit it is even fun for adults! Maneuvering is easy and authentic, and units from the battery/regiment level all the way up to the corps level can be controlled (Try micromanaging a Corps...it's a challenge to say the least...
Summary: I have played only a few games that hold my attention and make me want to play over and over again, like this game does. You are never quite sure how it will turn out. I have a winning record, but sometimes take a kick in the pants to keep me honest. Graphics are pretty good, sound is ok. I think the big draw for me is the variations that can be done. If you like history and war simulation games, I think you will enjoy this game very much.
Summary: Now this game rocks.Highly controllable units and many variations of the missions and a free play option, makes this game worth every cent.I do not understand why they can not make fun games like this anymore. This game beats even the sid meier civil war games made back in the 90s.If you like civil war strategy games this is a good one for you
