Summary: I loved the prequel AVP2. When Doom 3 was released I wished the sequel would look that good. So finally I purchased this game. I did not expect much. But as as passionate FPS gamer I had to stop playing after an while which only happened once so far in my gamer life. First of all the game has a very narrow field-of-view (FOV) and there is no way to change it except for using three monitors (Eyefinity). I constantly feel I'm looking through binoculars.
Summary: I really think that in the description of this (and all games) it should be REQUIRED to say if you have to have internet to play the game. We cannot get any internet where we live and I don't plan on hanging out at my local coffee shop every evening so my son can play his computer games. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! and we WILL NOT buy any other games for the computer!
Summary: This game did not work on our PC even after meeting all the requirements. I know why our local stores do not carry this game. it has probably gotten returned every time it is purchased because it doesn't work and the online support does not even exist! I would not recommend buying this game, which is too bad because the AVP II is so freaking cool. My son bought this game with his own money and was very disappointed.
Summary: It's bad enough that you have to wait 4 to 7 hrs(depending on your connection speed), but your forced to load a product you may not want. I think it's ridiculous that Amazon does not warn or at least give a set of instruction with this product. Once you load Steam ink, then you load Alien Vs Predator. If you remove Steam Ink, you can't have Alien Vs Predator. How stupid is that. Really Amazon I thought you were better than this.
Summary: Beware of buying used copies of this game. You must register this on Steam and the product key will only work for one steam account. If someone has already registered the game you buy used, then you are out of luck. You CANNOT register the same product key again. Make sure you are buying a new, never used game.
Summary: You MUST install STEAM in order to play this game. It is not a big deal... I installed it and I opened an account. The problem was that I couldn't play the game because of Installation Incomplete(53) error. Well, I rebooted, uninstalled and installed the game a few times but it didn't help. I also checked STEAM web site for error code 53. It says on the web site that System Mechanic is the reason why I get this error code. So, I have to make a choice now.
Summary: ( A moment in the developers heads ) People we need to come up with a game people want and have been asking for, but I don't want to spend any money on anything but its pre-motion. Its all about the money this time this Aliens vs predator that the one. We will give these stupid fans of the game a game made by no one who has ever seen the movie or the games. We will offer nothing new, and much less than before.
Summary: Addendum: Subsequently I discovered that the problem was related to the fact that I was installing the program onto a harddrive that was once a boot (C:/) drive. I had in the past quick formatted the drive to remove the files, but that probably left the Master Boot Record intact. The Steam program corrupted the Master Boot Record, making it unable to read the drive. A complete formatting of the drive solved the problem.
