Fun game, nice use of the movie
12 September 2014
Summary: I'm a fan of the movies and this did a pretty good job recreating the vibe and scenes from the movie. Sure it is a little buggy, but nothing that ruined it for me. I played it from start to finish, including the DLC, which i won't do unless sonething really grabs my attention. Very enjoyable game. I should note that I had not played alot of recent games before picking this up - but either way i found it to be good fun.
Summary: I spent 9 hours playing this game, I might spend another 9. The multiplayer community has died completely so you'll only be playing the campaign. For $4, I was pleased. (It also helped that I had very low expectations.) Otherwise, I might give it only 3 eggs just because it feels like a 2009 game released a few years late.
Pros: Good atmosphere and design, the artists did their homework on James Cameron's ALIENS, music is decent. Price was only $4 - and that's worth it for a big aliens fan like me.
Cons: Your AI companions will be annoying but not any more than Skyrim companions. The aliens are pretty dumb for the most part. In some places, your goals are uncertain or not clearly marked. Alien spawns are scripted but the AvP games have been than way since AvP2.
Summary: Not the greatest game out there, but my expectations weren't as great either. I am a big Alien series fan, so i give it a little more credit for trying. Overall I think it's better than what other folks have said about it. The graphics are ok. The story line is ok. The gameplay is fun and exciting. Collaboration (multi-player) is lots of fun. The finale is a disappointment. The campaign is a bit short (I beat it in total of 8 hours of playing).
Summary: Despite Aliens CM behind the scenes drama- the game has some pretty good graphics and sets the mood closely to Cameron's sequel. They have released some bug fixes to address many issues that plagued the original release. A low cost way of getting your fix while waiting for Alien Isolation to release. Just remember the price when setting your expectations. My star rating would be different if I paid the release price.
Summary: Better get it if you like the Alien series, avoid it if you are not a fan. Is not a masterpiece but you could give it a try and still have some fun. Be aware that is still a generic shooter in an Alien atmosphere, not very innovative in that.
If you're a fan of the film and Alien universe, you will enjoy this game...ignore the two-sentence naysayers.

Summary: 3.5 Stars First, the game has been "patched" to the extent that it was essentially entirely redesigned graphically. You will need at least $200 of modern GPU to run this game maxed at 1080/60, period; I'd imagine that most people lambasting the graphics of the game a) haven't played it recently, and b) lack sufficient GPU power to run it as it's meant to be run, circa March 2014. Ignore them; the game looks and runs great with sufficient hardware.
Very playable after patch, authentic music, sounds, and voices

Summary: This game has a dark past, but the latest effort that repaired it, well, works for me. If I had paid full release price when it was introduced, and then suffered as it got handed off to several defunct companies, I would have been upset. Now, 2 years later, this is the game it should have been. This is the PC version I'm reviewing, I don't know how it is on the consoles.
After the patch, everyone said it got way better. THEY WERE RIGHT.

Summary: This was probably the worst reviewed game of the year because the game that shipped was so much worse than the previews showed. But after the patch its a pretty fun shooter, set in a universe I love, with good multiplayer support for both coop and deathmatching. The different Alien classes remind me a bit of the special Undead from L4D, the guns sound great and are fun to shoot.
Summary: I bought this game recently when steam had a sale and I wanted to give people another perspective on the game after the 4gb update was applied in May. I played this game when it first came out and like everyone was really let down by the glitches, graphics and gameplay. I just played the updated version and I must say Colonial Marines feels and looks much better.
