Summary: I love the AoE series, I grew up playing it as a little girl. Now I'm an adult and I still love to play it. It's even better now that I have a better understanding and appreciation for history. I run this game on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. Works great!
single disc really easy to install (doesn't work with alienware computers)

Summary: I have been a huge fan of the series, the first one works without a hiccup on modern systems The second game has some issues. But thankfully some cool dudes made a totally safe patch for it. Its called forgotten empires, it adds a lot of stuff, allows players to pick more screen resolutions, and fixes issues such as automatic screen panning, and color issues. The online play also works still. although it is hosted by a third party, which is also safe for use.
Summary: After reading all the reviews about problems with later versions of Windows, I was worried this wouldn't work on my new computer. No problems at all. Loaded right up and runs perfectly. No issues with color or anything else.
Summary: Love AOE, bought it brand new years ago and recently lost the disc when I was cleaning my PC and reinstalling Windows. Amazon has an awesome price on it...I was happy to see I could get AOE, AOE 2 and all the expansions for such a good price. I also had issues running it on Windows 7, but discovered how to fix the issue....Start AOE, while it is loading, open task manager (Ctrl Alt Delete) and end the explorer.exe process.

Summary: Truly classic gaming. I was surprised the original game still ran on windows 7, I was expecting a hassle with compatibility mode. The only out of date issue is the help file, you have to download a help reader from microsoft.com. I only needed the help file because this edition did not come with the manual. All disks are stamped as "Collector's edition" if you're into that sort of thing.
