Eternal Gaming Network

  • Excerpt: Right to the meat, we all know the Age of Empires series is by Ensemble Studios a Microsoft games studio division, we all also know that "WarChiefs" is an expansion pack to Age of Empires III. What does it add to the game you ask you said right to the meat? In truth in true form with Ensemble Studios "WarChiefs" adds elements to the game that may well should have been part of the original game to begin with.
  • Pros: Graphics, gameplay, voice acting, hmm hard to pick the best parts of the game, this is a great strategy title.
  • Cons: There really are few and far between but alas the single player game is too short.

Mass Effect

GAMESQUAD
31 December 2007
  • Conclusion: High expectations put aside, Mass Effect is a good game worth experiencing. But Mass Effect is a game better experienced than it is played.
  • Pros: A story of such breadth could not have been accomplished in any other medium; beautiful presentation; some games hint at a vast universe, this games gives all of it to you; phenomenally unique and excellent soundtrack; the decisions you make will actually make you feel something.
  • Cons: Often terrible combat; glitches too numerous to enumerate; constantly stuttering framerate; almost identical structure to KOTOR; god-awful voice actor for the male Sheppard.

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs

Auracore MediaWorks
26 February 2007
  • Summary: Finally puts an end to the AOE expansion curse.
  • Pros: Very nice and varied artistic elements; crisp graphics and neat effects; audio is adequate (much the same as Age of Empires III); adds a whole new dimension to an already excellent game.
  • Cons: Cut-scenes are a little laggy; graphics can be taxing on performance; hot keys have been annoyingly remapped.

  • Excerpt: These statements may lead some to believe Ensemble Studios leaves there games incomplete to make extra money with expansion packs, but the fact is there expansion packs feel like part of the game. What this means the expansion pack doesn't feel like the Expansion packs of old that feel "slapped" on top of the game but a real part of the game.
  • Pros: Graphics, gameplay, voice acting, hmm hard to pick the best parts of the game, this is a great strategy title.
  • Cons: There really are few and far between but alas the single player game is too short.

Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs

GAMESQUAD
25 November 2006
  • Conclusion: While there’s nothing really revolutionary here, Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs is a solid expansion to an already excellent series. Gameplay remains pretty much unchanged, but the inclusion of the Native American tribes offers some interesting new opportunities and challenges—enough that veteran players may be forced to update their strategies. Fans of the series won’t want to miss this one.
  • Pros: New factions add great value; nice printed manual; new units; warchief.
  • Cons: Little innovation in resource gathering; Iroquois feel like a European faction.

On The Warpath

GIN
13 November 2006
  • Excerpt: When Age of Empires III came out, it really stuck a cord with gamers looking for something a bit new in the real-time strategy genre. Seeing an RTS in the colonial period was certainly unique and the graphics were simply gorgeous. But while AoE III had tons of re-playability, nothing lasts forever. That is, unless game companies come out with expansion packs to keep their titles fresh like the new War Chiefs one just released by Microsoft and developer Ensemble Studios.

GamingTrend
24 May 2006
  • Excerpt: Age of Empries III came out late last year to rather solid reviews, and here we are in the Fall of 2006 with the first expansion for the title, .  This time, the focus shifts from the European powers to Native Americans, specifically the Iroquois , the Sioux and the Aztec nations.  The game also adds a number of features to multiplayer, as well as adding new cards for Home City usage and even a free reset for your Home City.
