Conclusion: When it comes to graphics, Lonpos is fairly average. There’s little variety in backgrounds and the game doesn’t have very much detail. The exact same can be said about the sound, too. The same track is basically played over and over again, and after a while, you’ll want to throw your Wii Remote at your television to make it stop. Besides this, the controls aren’t nearly as good as they should be. For a game of this nature, the controls should feel natural and intuitive.
Excerpt: Conan Throne - E3 2005 Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is a pay-to-play MMORPG about the Conan universe, based on the graphic novel by Robert E. Howard. Conan has many races of people, such as the Cimmerians and Stygians. Age of Conan has 3 playable races along with 4 types of classes, each with 3 classes. Each race has their own special class type they can choose.
Summary: Parents need to know that this is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game in which the developers have this game have no qualms about including violence and sexual content in this game. Females are shown topless. And most quests require the player to kill others. Blood will spray from wounds and heads can be lopped off. This world is a dark savage place where society is so primitive that despots perform human sacrifice as a form of religious piety.
Excerpt: Our help was needed—again. Such is the fate of a hero. In the world of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures all manner of fishermen, pirates, merchants, guards, beer wenches, and assorted ne’er-do wells require assistance. This motley cast of characters imbues the game with a vibrant sense of life; we just wish that they showed even a bit of initiative and took care of some of their own problems.
Excerpt: As imagined by developer Funcom, the land of Cimmeria's lush green landscapes are dotted with impaled corpses upon which crows roost and flap their wings, apparently pleased with both the height of their perch and the scent of death. Thus the stage is set for one of the finest online role-playing games in years, one in which fertile fields and arid deserts contrast with the blood spilled by hundreds of sharp-toothed warthogs and hulking mantises.
Pros: Mature, brilliantly imagined game world is a pleasure to explore, Exciting combat keeps you constantly involved, Many quests are powerfully written and have emotional impact, Varied classes make both team and solo play equally viable, You can tear a man's heart out of his chest and eat it
Cons: A large number of server- and client-side bugs, Lacks noncombat activities that would help mix things up, Various pacing issues and other minor flaws
Conclusion: Age of Conan is a beautiful game that does many things to set itself apart from other games in the genre. The fact is, though, that AoC often plays as an unpolished and half-finished game. Nonetheless, technical issues aside, it is a testament to the game that there is still fun to be had with its excellent soundtrack, beautiful graphics, unique combat system and immersive early game content.
Pros: Unique combat; Best early game content in an MMO; Gorgeous graphics.
Cons: Bugs, bugs, and more bugs; Missing and broken late game content; Requires a NASA computer to run.
Excerpt: The amazing world of Robert E. Howard comes alive in Funcom's latest online epic entitled Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures that is based on the saga of this amazing writer, including much of the pop culture stories of today from novels to comics.
Excerpt: I've been playing Conan for a few weeks now and I must say that it is one of the best game I've ever played. After playing this game, I have come up with three reasons why this game is so impressive: the graphics, the game play, and of course the carnage.
