  • Excerpt: As an indie game, Afterfall: Insanity is quite a find, as it doesn’t really make any grievous mistakes, it just doesn’t differentiate itself from the pack in any meaningful way. As it is planned as simply the introductory game to a series of games set in this universe, it’s a positive first release. I hope that Nicolas Games is able to capitalize on the positives and find ways to freshen up the series for its next go.
  • Pros: Combat works fine; graphics are quite good for an indie game; no glaring flaws
  • Cons: Localization needs work; feels and plays like a generic post-apocalyptic action game

30 November 2011
  • Conclusion: The Short Version: Afterfall: InSanity falls just short of its lofty aspirations, ending up as a solid and compelling niche title that could have been so much more. Hefty, brutal and satisfying, but disappointing in equal measure.
  • Pros: Solid and satisfying combat, Surprisingly impressive graphics, Compelling storyline
  • Cons: Can become a repetitive slog, Frequently fails to scare, Inconsistent voice acting and weird animations

Afterfall: Insanity im Test

GameStar
8 December 2011
  • Pros: gute Licht- & Schattenspielereien, detailreiche Schauplätze, Texturqualität mal gut …, netter Soundtrack …, in Handlung eingebautes Tutorial, vier Schwierigkeitsgrade …, Trostlosigkeit der Oberwelt gut umgesetzt, Hologramme statt Bildschirmanzeigen, genretypische Tastatursteuerung …, zwei völlig unterschiedliche Szenarien, freischaltbarer Schwierigkeitsgrad …, abwechslungsreiche zweite Spielhälfte, Sonnenstrahlung als Spielelement, Bossgegner erfordern Taktik, Monster...
