In my opinion, Act of War was one of the best strategy games of the year 2005. I have opted to review this game because Eugen Systems are working on an expansion pack, called High Treason, from which I expect to further improve the core of Direct Action. Until Act of War, Eugen Systems were an unknown French game studio that after its founding in 2000 that produced two even greater strangers, Times of Conflict and The Gladiators: Galactic Circus Games. There was nothing... Read more

When the last shell fell, the last missile launched, I was left impressed, and driven to continue playing – it’s rare for a title to grip me to the end anymore, yet I felt myself drawn back to Act of War time and time again by the strong storyline, and incredible gameplay. Even after the nine hours of the campaign, I found myself loading up the multiplayer modes and slugging it out with AI opponents, often turning them into rough renditions of goo with the Falling... Act of War: Direct Action is a real-time strategy game that takes as its premise the notion that a shadowy Consortium, a secret group of petroleum company owners, is manipulating the price of oil (Americans pay $7 for a gallon of gas!) through terrorist attacks and military actions. As commander of the elite Task Force Talon, you must put a stop to the Consortium's sinister plans. If you fail in your mission the world will be a different and horrific place to live.... Read more

Act of War’s campaign definitely provides a change of pace from your typical RTS game. While the multiplayer mode is more standard fare, it is still executed well enough to make the game enjoyable. Overall it’s not the deepest or most engaging RTS you’ll ever play, but it is worth a good look from strategy fans. Read more

Pretty shabby! It would install but it would not play because it needed some obscure video card feature. Most EA games and a lot of others work fine on our machines, but not this one. Beware! Act of War: Direct Action (DVD) Read more or see product
