Zalman ZM-F3-FDB & ZM-SF3 120mm Cooling Fan Review

Excerpt: To be honest with the community, it’s been a few years since Zalman has really “wooed” me with their cooling products. Although, Zalman and I do go far back to when I originally started building PCs. Around the year 2006 Zalman brought fans to the consumer market which were incredibly well priced, performed very well and offered the users more features and accessories than we had previously come to expect, especially for its price bracket.
Conclusion: While Zalman has 3 different models from the ZM-F FDB series family, the ZM-F1 80mm , ZM-F2 92mm, and ZM-F3 120mm, Zalman decided to sell only the 80mm ZM-F1 and 120mm ZM-F3 models in the US. As for the Shark’s Fin Design ELQ fans, Zalman is currently only selling the 120mm model, the ZM-SF3. Considering the overall performance-vs-noise ratio, these are probably one of the most price-efficient fans on the market right now.
Summary: Replacing case fans with a "higher performance" fan might not be the first thing people do when building a computer, but if you want a system that is nice and quiet chances are you'll be eventually looking to replace those cheap fans with something better. The Zalman ZM-SF3 is a great fan and thanks to the new engineering is able to outperform traditional fan designs and is also to help reduce noise which most enthusiasts will appreciate.
