Pros: none. it worked well for the first two weeks and it kept my laptop cool while it worked, which was for about two weeks of non-consecutive use. During that time, my laptop stopped freezing due to overheating that was happening to my DELL XPS 17 inch 1730 Laptop equipped with a separate graphics card. It was silent when it worked, which was nice... during the two weeks of life of this expensive, and useless product.
Cons: Horrible durability. Do not buy this. With no further notice, after barely a couple weeks of use, the fan speeds dropped dramatically, and the cooler stopped working properly to the point that it will not cool off anything and my laptop is back to freezing and shutting down unexpectedly due to overheating. Fanning the laptop with your own hand would be more efficient than this, since the air flow produced by the Zalman ZM-NC2000 won't even lift a paper off the cooler,...
Summary: I like to bring my laptop places and use this, but its a little large. I mean thats what laptops are for right, bringing different places?
Pros: I have used this thing for several years now. I originally bought it for my mother but she stopped using it and I dumped my cooler master and snagged it from her. I have been heavily using this thing for several years now, gaming and doing animation/music production on my 15in macbook pro. The fans arent exactly in the right place for a macbook but the aluminum draws the heat out very well and the little cord holder on the underside of this thing is very useful when t...
Cons: Very large and will not fit in my backpack/laptop bag, but I guess thats not a bad con if your on a 17in laptop, then you probably need all the space.
Summary: Would highly recommend it to people who regularly game on their laptops.
Pros: Had this cooler for nearly two years. Used it for my Dell 17" Gaming Laptop. Had my ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 overclocked to 550 Core GPU as well as memory overclocked. Noticed that with this laptop cooler temperature dropped 5-10 degrees celsius. During Gaming session prior, laptop would shutdown when it reached a certain temperature. But with this cooler with the fans set to max on the cooler this hasn't happened once as far as I can recall. Also, it fits 17" Gaming ...
Cons: It would be nice if one can increase the fan speed even more. Was a bit more expensive when I brought it ($59.99), would have been nice if I could have gotten it at the price it is now.
Summary: I've convinced that this cooler played a role in keeping my laptop in good shape for over five years -- a pretty big deal since I was in college and had limited budget. This unit used to faithfully service my Asus laptop through all sorts of abuse, but now that laptop has been re-purposed into a wireless HTPC (obviously, it can handle 1080p still, but I also now own a Macbook Retina 13" and a mITX rig now).
Pros: -Has worked for over 5 years -Kept laptop cool -Produced breathing for my Asus laptop's under-side intake by elevating it at an angle. Consequently this made using the keyboard easier as well. -Not too expensive (several years ago I purchased for ~$60). It was worth it for piece of mind.
Cons: -Minus one egg because on my unit, the fans cannot be changed. This was a big con because after several years of use (5+ @ almost 24/7 operation) just about anyone could use some new fan in there. All fans have a limit to their useful life before they start to break down/make NOISE. - The side blue LED is really bright. I covered this up with black electrical tape. Not really worth one less egg, but be aware of this.
Summary: There are other reputable companies where I will continue to buy from.
Pros: Buyer beware! If you have 50 bucks to throw away, then this is the way to go.This cooler worked up to 32 days and then just died on me! I used to buy Zalman products to build my computers, but NO MORE! I am upset by the bad quality of their products as they are cheaply made for high prices. I will buy from a company that has better Quality Control!
