Summary: In the end, I don't regret the purchase, since it did what it was supposed to do. Still, for what it costs, it should work for more than 8-10 months.
Pros: Works great. It's not "windy" like a box fan, but the cold radiates off the top of it. I was getting frequent overheating crashes on my laptop every 20-30 minutes, but once I started using the cooler, I didn't get a single shutdown from overheating
Cons: The blue light is BRIGHT in dark. I mean like you'll be shocked how bright it is. Also, the fans just decided to stop working. The left fan stopped around 8 months in, followed shortly by the right fan.
Summary: Gaming laptops are tricky, since they have high quality components that tend to run hot and most cases lack good airflow, at least when compared to a desktop pc. A good cooler like this will help push more cool air into the system, but keeping the system free of dust buildup is the real trick to...
Pros: I'm using this with a Sager NP8690 laptop. 15.6" widescreen. The laptop sits nicely on the cooler and does not slide around. The air from the cooler seems to be distributed evenly through the surface, so the fan intakes on my laptop are pulling in cool ambient air, which has a definite impact on ...
Cons: The fans on the cooler can be loud when set to max rpm. Even then, they're not as loud as the fans in my laptop when at full speed, so it's improvement in my situation.
Summary: A bit expensive, but if you want a cooler that can cool well, and take a beating, this is probably one of the better ones. 4 Eggs because of the strange fan selection, can't find replacements for a misaligned/dead fan (I have one that sounds misaligned)
Pros: Cools, pushes quite a bit of air. Adjustable speed, I love this part. Easy to take apart for cleaning. Very sturdy, made out of aluminum (I think?) Very light! Has an extra USB port, so you don't really 'lose' a port powering the fans!
Cons: A tad loud at full power/speed. USB ports on one side, only one available after the power USB is connected. Customized fans; hard to find replacement (any pointers?)
Summary: This is not a cheap design. I've been extremely rough with mine and its still working.
Pros: I've had this cooler since 2009 and it has taken a beating. The usb cord is bent up but still works. The whole thing still works. I've moved around the state and I've managed to keep it around. Used it on an old HP and now use it to keep my MBP cool.
Cons: With a macbook pro would be nice if the USB port was on the other and added a few more ports. I mean for 50 some dollars or whatever I paid a few more ports is no big.
Pros: Nicely constructed and the rubber strips do a good job holding my 15" Acer on the pad
Cons: At full speed the fans are a little louder then anticipated, but it gets the job done so its minor con in my world. The bottom rubber feet hold the whole unit in place well which is a pro, but making minor positioning adjustments can be kind of a pain since the feet are so planted.
Pros: I've owned this thing for a good 6 months. I tried the cooler master 1st, and that was old trusty for about a years and a half, but then it started making this funny noise. I actually fixed the cooler master after buying this, so I guess it's still fine, but this thing is much better. 1st, the fa...
Cons: My cooler master came with a little strap that basically fastens the laptop to the cooling pad. This cooler does not come with this. I hate to deduct an egg over something so petty, especially since I already have the strap, BUT this strap IS NECESSARY. If you've ever tried to pull your laptop op...
Summary: Newegg packaging is terrible as usual. ZERO padding on the bottom of box, crumpled up reams of paper on top. I order all of my electronics from Newegg and this has got to be the worst thing about them. Is it so hard to put padding on the top AND BOTTOM of the package?
Summary: After exactly 2 years and 2 weeks...this cooler has officially died on me. while it lasted it was very reliable. I am very pleased with the longevity of this product, but I'm sad to say that it has died. the usb ports were are poorly made and the cable that comes with the cooler is cheap and short.
Pros: -does its job -cools well -solid design
Cons: -flimsy usb ports -awful usb cable included -can be loud -heavy, from the solid construction
