Rebate Discrepancy

Anonymous, Newegg
30 May 2013
  • Summary: Hopefully I'll be able to come back in the future & give rave reviews on this. So far it feels like a mistake.
  • Pros: The $10 rebate is a huge hassle to even file for, let alone receive in the form of a card. Besides there being a lot of hoops & paperwork, though Newegg lists the ZM-NC1000 as qualifying for the rebate, that specific model isn't listed on Zalman's rebate site as qualifying for a rebate...it only ...
  • Cons: Rebate discrepancy, so far a hassle dealing with company for the rebate, not so effective cooling, sticks out a lot in the back, LOTS of telemarketing calls all of a sudden.

Not noticeable.

Jonathan M., Newegg
27 December 2012
  • Summary: No noticeable difference in operating temperatures.
  • Pros: It feels really sturdy and I don't doubt that it would last well.
  • Cons: It doesn't do it's job. With my laptop fan maxed and the cooling pads fan maxed my laptop still soars above 100 C. For the premium price I would have expected it to mitigate the extreme temps.

Died within a year

Sean B., Newegg
18 November 2012
  • Pros: When it worked, it worked pretty well.
  • Cons: It's square, it would be better if it was laptop shaped! We bought it in Jan 2012, it's now Nov 2012 and it decided to die. It was just fine yesterday. Also the metal digs into my legs and leaves red marks.

Defective

Andrew M., Newegg
26 February 2012
  • Pros: It used to be really quiet, and it worked really well.
  • Cons: After about two weeks of owning the cooler, the fans began making an ungodly, grinding, motor-like sound.

Terrible

Joe L., Newegg
17 February 2011
  • Pros: Quiet, that's about it.
  • Cons: Barely feel anything coming off this product, sure it is silent but toggling the fan speed I see no change in the way it operates. Laptop feels no relief from this cooler. Wish I kept the plastic stuff or else I would return it, never had a problem in Newegg's products but I guess one was bound t...

User Review

Long N., Newegg
3 August 2010
  • Summary: I quite don't understand why this product's got high rates. Or is it just because my laptop is too hot over the limit?
  • Pros: Quiet, extra USB hubs, feels durable
  • Cons: Doesn't work that well. My laptop's still super hot. Very disappointed when spending 50 bucks on this.

Cold cooler and cold manufacturer.

Brian H., Newegg
18 July 2010
  • Summary: for a $50 product, you'd think that there would be some way to at least attempt self-repair. For that reason this product has infuriated me with its loud tapering sounds while trying to concentrate on different activities.
  • Pros: Worked well while it worked and made using the laptop noticably cooler
  • Cons: extremely loud tapering noises have convinced me that the fan is hitting something on the inside. However, there is no way to get inside of the cooler, no screws to unscrew or anything to remedy the problem. Though the product is still under 1 year warranty (about a month to go...) the manufactur...

Not enough fan power for adequate cooling

a c., Newegg
9 April 2010
  • Summary: Our 'temporary' solution has been for our users to stand the notebooks on their sides at the moment to prevent the heat build up on their base.
  • Pros: None really due to the cons.
  • Cons: We tried this with various Dell notebooks. There is one major flaw in this product and that is fan power it is simply too weak. . It does not blow hard enough. When you put your hand on you should really be able to feel it blowing hard - you can't. You can test the theory of this product yourself...

Claims are greatly exaggerated

Jerzy B., Newegg
20 June 2008
  • Summary: I don't see how people are getting such temperature differences, but I'm willing to bet that the laptops seeing a big cooldown are ones that were designed poorly to begin with, so this thing is useless for newer laptops.
  • Pros: The cooler does push out cool air from the vents, I guess.
  • Cons: Made almost no difference in my m1530. The biggest drop I was able to see was 3-4 degrees C at the highest speed while running 3DMark06. The claims that this cooler will dramatically lower your temperature are bunk.

cooled a full 10C

Michael D., Newegg
2 June 2008
  • Summary: Just an excellent product. My 17" wide screen laptop was wider than the unit but this worked great with how the feet on my laptop were setup. I wouldn't purchase the NC2000 unless I had a large 19"+ laptop, and who buys those anyway?
  • Pros: Superb cooling. High quality. The aluminum is actually cool to the touch even while gaming. Cooled my PC a full 10 degrees Celsius.
  • Cons: None that I have found.
