Summary: Hopefully I'll be able to come back in the future & give rave reviews on this. So far it feels like a mistake.
Pros: The $10 rebate is a huge hassle to even file for, let alone receive in the form of a card. Besides there being a lot of hoops & paperwork, though Newegg lists the ZM-NC1000 as qualifying for the rebate, that specific model isn't listed on Zalman's rebate site as qualifying for a rebate...it only ...
Cons: Rebate discrepancy, so far a hassle dealing with company for the rebate, not so effective cooling, sticks out a lot in the back, LOTS of telemarketing calls all of a sudden.
Cons: It's square, it would be better if it was laptop shaped! We bought it in Jan 2012, it's now Nov 2012 and it decided to die. It was just fine yesterday. Also the metal digs into my legs and leaves red marks.
Cons: Barely feel anything coming off this product, sure it is silent but toggling the fan speed I see no change in the way it operates. Laptop feels no relief from this cooler. Wish I kept the plastic stuff or else I would return it, never had a problem in Newegg's products but I guess one was bound t...
Summary: for a $50 product, you'd think that there would be some way to at least attempt self-repair. For that reason this product has infuriated me with its loud tapering sounds while trying to concentrate on different activities.
Pros: Worked well while it worked and made using the laptop noticably cooler
Cons: extremely loud tapering noises have convinced me that the fan is hitting something on the inside. However, there is no way to get inside of the cooler, no screws to unscrew or anything to remedy the problem. Though the product is still under 1 year warranty (about a month to go...) the manufactur...
Summary: Our 'temporary' solution has been for our users to stand the notebooks on their sides at the moment to prevent the heat build up on their base.
Pros: None really due to the cons.
Cons: We tried this with various Dell notebooks. There is one major flaw in this product and that is fan power it is simply too weak. . It does not blow hard enough. When you put your hand on you should really be able to feel it blowing hard - you can't. You can test the theory of this product yourself...
Summary: I don't see how people are getting such temperature differences, but I'm willing to bet that the laptops seeing a big cooldown are ones that were designed poorly to begin with, so this thing is useless for newer laptops.
Pros: The cooler does push out cool air from the vents, I guess.
Cons: Made almost no difference in my m1530. The biggest drop I was able to see was 3-4 degrees C at the highest speed while running 3DMark06. The claims that this cooler will dramatically lower your temperature are bunk.
