Summary: In the end, I don't regret the purchase, since it did what it was supposed to do. Still, for what it costs, it should work for more than 8-10 months.
Pros: Works great. It's not "windy" like a box fan, but the cold radiates off the top of it. I was getting frequent overheating crashes on my laptop every 20-30 minutes, but once I started using the cooler, I didn't get a single shutdown from overheating
Cons: The blue light is BRIGHT in dark. I mean like you'll be shocked how bright it is. Also, the fans just decided to stop working. The left fan stopped around 8 months in, followed shortly by the right fan.
Summary: Decided to make the plunge and spend $50 on a good, metal cooling station after having two different $25-ish plastic folding laptop cooling stations went bad after about 3 months each. I'll be purchasing another one of these and giving the very old one to my girlfriend :)
Pros: Have had this model since early 2009 (going on 6 years on very frequent usage) and both fans still blow and are whisper quiet.
Cons: Doesn't fold up and somewhat bulky (but not heavy), however it still fits in my Swiss Army Wegner clam shell with a 15.4" laptop just fine. Read the dimensions to be sure it will work for your bag if you are very mobile.
Summary: I have had this cooler for over 5 years and it has kept my laptop cool for the whole time. Yes my laptop is over 5 years old and I'm sure using this cooler on a regular basis helped the longevity of my laptop. I don't have any complaints about it.
Pros: Very solid and sturdy. Very quiet, no louder than my laptop fan. Seems to always keep my laptop cool. Extra USB slot so you won't be losing any USB ports. On/Off button (many coolers have to be unplugged to turn off). Adjustable fan speed (again, many coolers are not controlled).
Cons: None that I can think of. The price has not gone down much since I bought mine 5 years ago.
Summary: had to buy a second USB cord because the one they supplied became useless after a couple of months. i use this with an alienware M11x laptop, my machine gets up to 170 F when being used in a gaming setting, which makes playing uncomfortable.
Summary: Overall I have no real complaints about this laptop cooling mat. It's worked extremely well for the last 8 months and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. From a gamer who was having trouble with an overheating laptop every 35-45 minutes this cooler has been an absolutely amazing piece of...
Pros: I bought this Cooling Mat around 6-8 months ago and it hasn't failed me yet. Some of the reviews might say it doesn't help but it really does. Before I bought this my Toshiba Satellite 15.6" Screen Laptop would not stay on more than 45 minutes at a time without overheating. I'm an avid gamer and ...
Cons: The position of the USB Extensions is odd for some but not all USB devices. There's a small inlet from the top of the cooler and the USB sits inside of it, but that's not much of a con considering how well the ports work.
Summary: Hopefully I'll be able to come back in the future & give rave reviews on this. So far it feels like a mistake.
Pros: The $10 rebate is a huge hassle to even file for, let alone receive in the form of a card. Besides there being a lot of hoops & paperwork, though Newegg lists the ZM-NC1000 as qualifying for the rebate, that specific model isn't listed on Zalman's rebate site as qualifying for a rebate...it only ...
Cons: Rebate discrepancy, so far a hassle dealing with company for the rebate, not so effective cooling, sticks out a lot in the back, LOTS of telemarketing calls all of a sudden.
Pros: Living in Florida heat is a real problem. After moving here i saw a slow down in my laptops performance I soon realized it was heat related since it was fine first thing in the morning. Some benchmarking proved high heat numbers. I suspect there are thousands of people with slow laptops in Florid...
