Pros: I had an MFC2, and it definitely had a few flaws, all of which seem to be resolved in the MFC3. Seems to have unusually good algorithms for keeping fan speeds steady, even if you're trying to run them so low the fans almost refuse to start up. This comes with temperature probes, but the fan speed...
Cons: If you want the speed of your fans to be controlled by temperature, you need to buy actual temperature-controlled fans, or hook fixed-speed fans to the motherboard for control. This controller will just not let you couple temperature and speed.
Summary: The Good: Looks nice on my twelve hundred. Fan control is good. The power watt indicator is a nice addition. At least I know my 850W PSU is just right for my sli gtx 260. FYI, the power tops 430W only. So I can go 3SLI =)
Pros: It seems to be a quality product in every regard. I installed it to control the CPU fan and four case fans (two case fans in parallel using the "Y Cable". I really like the watt meter. I have the four thermocoples located near the CPU, RAM, and both GPUs.
Cons: No cons. Great product. There is nothing not to like, it does exactly what it is advertized to do.
Summary: I've also been looking into sound level meters. Meters in the 30 to 130 dB range can be purchased in the $30 to $50 price range. But meters that cover ranges below 30 dB start to get very expensive.
Pros: I am interested in this unit because of its watt meter. Companies like "P3 International" and "Watts Up" make watt meters (in the $40 to $240 price range), but they are not designed for computer case mounting. I think this Zalman product is the only watt meter made spcifically for "gaming" comput...
Cons: No cons that I can see from the description.
Pros: It's been working great for me. All 4 fan controls and temperature readings work great. Being able to set the rpm that I want the fans to run at rather than the voltage is great! The LCD screen also as a very good viewing angle which use to be a problem with the older MFC2
Summary: This is a manual fan controller. It looks sharp, but it doesn't do anything automatically. If you want to set RPM curves, temp alerts, etc, you will need to spend $ on a more full-featured unit.
Pros: PSU Power monitoring is very nice. Temperature monitor probes were easy to run through case with good length. CPU fan and case fan monitoring / adjusting is plain easy. Looks impressive when PC is on.
Cons: Photo on NewEgg ***is*** correct, uses a blue backlight, not what is pictured on the retail box. Wish backlighting could be disabled, is a little too bright in a dark room. Wish there was some automation / threshold settings instead of purely manual RPM controls for all fans. Temp monitor probes ...
Pros: Very nice display, fast response to control fan speeds, accurate temperature readings
Cons: All the wires can be a hassle to manage, but I'm using twist ties to make it a bit more organized. The fan controller knob seems to take a bit too long to make adjustments sometimes, > 5 seconds. The wire connectors at the back of the unit can be a bit difficult to disconnect once they're in, esp...
