Solid Upgrade

Gary H., Newegg
17 November 2014
  • Summary: I would use this again in future builds and I would recommend to others to use for an air cooled pc build.
  • Pros: It works! Very solid construction. Love the faceplate and the fact it has to cables to hook back to the mother board for reporting RPM. I had the previous version of the fan controller and hated the super bright leds and the cheapness of the old faceplate. This new version hits it out of the park...
  • Cons: I do not like the fact the cables are not sleeved and they are all multi colored. It did not go well with my new build so minus 1 egg. I ended up wrapping the cables in black and dying the ends all black to make it look good in the case. Turned out well

Not quite right

Chris C., Newegg
15 July 2014
  • Summary: On a $2k build, the parts need to fit. this doesn't and even though it looks nice, it's not right. Probably works fine as other reviewers said but I couldn't get past the design.
  • Pros: Nicely made Good materials Clear instructions
  • Cons: Doesn't fit the standard 5.25 bay. Theres a gap at the top of almost 1/8 inch.

Simple no frills controller

Christopher J., Newegg
11 May 2014
  • Summary: As another review pointed out, two of the connections have a 3/2 splitter harness that is meant to plug into the mobo on one end, to the controller, and then to the fan. Why that is, is a mystery to me. Thanks, but I rather direct connect my cpu fan anyway.
  • Pros: Simple to install and connect up. Knobs seem well designed, rotational force seems correct, not loose, not too tight.
  • Cons: While it fit my case (nzxt Source 210) it isn't super secure. The tool less mounting is a non starter due to the short mounting ears on the unit, but fortunately 3 of the 4 holes lined up with holes in the case. There is a bit of a gap around the bezel but not too unsightly.

Doesn't fit my case

Victoria J., Newegg
29 March 2014
  • Pros: Very nice fit and finish. Knobs were tight ( which was a concern of mine from reading the reviews).
  • Cons: Doesn't even fit in my case! I have a Corsair 750D which has tool less mounting 5.25 bays. Well, this controller is only about 2 inches long so there was no way i was going to get it to stay in one of my bays. Even with the included screws there was no where to screw it in because of the way my c...

Awesome Controller

Erik B., Newegg
26 March 2014
  • Summary: Wonderful product. Zalman should maybe make some with sleeved cables to bump the overall quality?
  • Pros: Everything works as promised it looks great and would go best with a corsair obsidian series case with a brushed finish. Easy install and simple instructions for beginners.
  • Cons: The only con i have which is not worthy of an egg drop is I wish the knobs were a bit more robust.

Great but fits weird

William C., Newegg
20 February 2014
  • Summary: Definitely worth the money; if you need a fan controller get this one. -1 egg for not fitting in my case.
  • Pros: A lot of slots to hook up fans, looks really nice, knobs are firm in contrast to other reviews, LEDs are perfectly bright.
  • Cons: It doesn't sit tight in my case. The LEDs, although perfectly bright, are not very helpful. Blue until it is turned past 80% or so, then red. I think I know when I turn it that far myself. Also, the front of this looks super nice, except th big ZALMAN block text. Look at the pictures and you'll s...

Does what it should

Benjamin S., Newegg
9 January 2014
  • Summary: The knobs didn't allow my Coolermaster Cosmos case door to close, but the knobs just pull right off to reveal smaller knobs that work perfectly!
  • Pros: Its been used daily for almost 6 years, and still going strong Attractive brushed front Wide range of fan speeds Removable knobs
  • Cons: required some creative engineering to stay secured in the case

Great little controller

Parker S., Newegg
20 October 2013
  • Summary: I didn't think it to last this long (cheap fan controllers generally have shoddy components) but it exceeded my expectations. I don't have 5.25" bays in my current PCs but I might buy another to part out for another internal install.
  • Pros: Sleek brushed aluminum finish, indicator light for active fans, does what it's supposed to and best of all it's inexpensive.
  • Cons: Died after powering a pair of Deltas and four Yate Loons nonstop for two and a half years. Visible charring on one of the ICs attached to the heatsink from where it blew. Received a proper burial in the electronic recycling bin at work along with a 21 capacitor salute. It lived a good life, it wi...

Works great!

Robert I., Newegg
19 September 2013
  • Summary: It doesn't fit well in my case, but it wasn't that much work to make it fit the way I wanted.
  • Pros: Does everything it's supposed to do exactly the way it should.
  • Cons: I can't find any
