Should have bought this a long time ago

Theodore S., Newegg
13 March 2011
  • Pros: Before installing the zalman cooling fan/heatsink I would get crashes and lag a ton every time I play Battlefield Bad Company 2. I've seen my GPU temp go up as high as 102 degrees! I just finished a couple hours of playing and immediately checked my temps... I can't believe it but my GPU temp has...
  • Cons: Remote did not work when I installed it. Decided to bypass and connect the fan straight to the mobo. Works just fine.

Great Cooler

Dan E., Newegg
28 June 2010
  • Summary: 250 GT card, use pin hole 5. This wasn't stated in the instruction booklet thing.
  • Pros: Excellent cooling on both an 8600GTS and a 250 GT graphics cards. Much quieter than the stock coolers that come with these cards (why do they make them so bad in the first place?)
  • Cons: One of these that I got from a local retailer was considerably cheaper, but the fan was also off center causing it to rub against the copper fins. Some adjustments of the screws fixed the issue. Make sure you seat the RAM chip heatsinks properly. They don't like to stick on too well, apply some p...

Nice, but maybe not the best.

Matthew V., Newegg
2 June 2010
  • Summary: I'll keep using this cooler because it is small enough to allow me to use some copper ram sinks. I've put them all over the card on the hot chips and have noticed a big jump in graphics efficiency. I highly recommend them. I will be open-minded about other GPU coolers, though.
  • Pros: It was made quite well. I have few complaints.
  • Cons: The actual sink that touches the GPU is not as thick as I expected. I'm not convinced that it is as effective as people seem to think. The stock HIS sink/fan that came with my ATI card kept the GPU around 50-55C. This cooler allows it to go up to 62C. I think the previous one was effective due to...

Great for budget Sli/Crossfire

Brian C., Newegg
26 November 2009
  • Summary: For any mounting issues, best thing to do is what we do best; make it work. Snake through the local hardware store with a stand-off and you should have no problems finding what you need. Be very careful not to over tighten anything. Snug is best as always!
  • Pros: Drops idle temps 10c and load temps up to 25c receptively depending on conditions and what card you are using. Easy to assemble and mount on compilable cards and offers the clearance needed for Sli/X-fire. Very quiet in just about any enclosed case.
  • Cons: Hardware to mounting system interferes with some boards (ie: capacitors), but this is just life. Though shallower fasteners or alternative method would fix this issue.

  • Summary: Just make sure the fan isn't defective otherwise is a quiet and efficient cooler
  • Pros: cools down a lot and looks great
  • Cons: This is my second purchase, the first fan worked great, but this new fan has loud noise when it get above 60C. RMA

Not for special Cards...

Josh W., Newegg
23 June 2009
  • Summary: I really like this thing, I just wish it fit correctly without 3 hours of figuring it out and 24 hour cure time for the epoxy I had to use.
  • Pros: This thing is amazing. I bought this for a 7950GT AGP since spec states it is compatible with "7900" Series cards. NOT THIS ONE... However, I used Arctic Silver 2 part thermal compound and 2 of the screws and it worked like a champ. And after 4 months or so, it hasn't budged. Now, you need to kno...
  • Cons: There is NOTHING that stated it will not fit the AGP version of the 7950GT. They must have not known or didn't care to mention it. It states this: "Excellent Compatibility Five sets of "installation holes" provide the Zalman VF900-Cu with broad compatibility with most contemporary ATI (up to Rade...

Good Fan - Compatibility Issues

Matthew M., Newegg
15 January 2009
  • Pros: It's very quiet and works well to lower temps.
  • Cons: I have an 8800GT which is listed as a compatible card. The fan power cable is a three pin female, but the card uses a four pin connector. If it is listed as compatible with this card it should come with an adapter. I was lucky to have a spare three pin fan power connector on my motherboard to pow...

Works great but beware

Edwin N., Newegg
4 December 2008
  • Summary: I have bought this cooler for two cards. The first a 6800GT and it was amazing. The second I used on an ATI 4850 paired with an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe and the cooler pushed against the adjacent PCI slot. So look at how close your card is to the PCI slot and or capacitors below before you buy it.
  • Pros: Fantastic cooling and it works with almost every card out there. Quiet.
  • Cons: Will it fit with your motherboard?
