Summary: It's extremely frustrating when you NEED to use a product, but nothing goes right. I had to fit this in a computer, with very tight space. This was the perfect VGA cooler for the job, low-profile, quiet, high performance. Unfortunately, there was no way the plastic thumbscrews were going to work.
Pros: Functions okay.
Cons: *Mounting hardware too big for my application. *Wires became unattached.
Summary: ATI 9800 PRO has a two-pin fan connector, this heatsink has a three-pin connector, so had to use a splitter from the auxiliary power connector to feed 12v to the fan. The fins contact two electrolytic caps preventing the heatsink from sitting flat against the GPU die.
Pros: Larger than stock heatsink, solid construction, quiet, cools the GPU, looks like solid copper.
Cons: Physically does not fit ATI 9800 PRO, has wrong fan connector, is not made of solid copper.
Summary: When I first got this product, i was very satisfied with the noiseless cooler. However, playing an old game like warcraft frozen throne makes fan cooler go insane noisy, won't stop even after closing the game, i doubt it.
Summary: This Zalman requires extra active ventilation to cool decently. I have a Lian-Li PC-V1000 (which has hundreds of holes on the front and back, for ventilation) and the video card (8800GT) reaches 60C... idling. It recirculates the same hot air.
Pros: - Looks good. Comes with nice little blue RAM heatsinks. - Comes with a dial to adjust speed.
Cons: - Doesn't cool well at all without outside ventilation. - Tightly packed fins make it easy for dust to kill air flow. - Isn't quiet on medium or higher fan speeds.
