Summary: I bought one of these to replace a dead fan on an Radeon X1950 Pro AGP... Worked perfectly... Tried the same model on an HD4850 and it works well. The only issue I had both times is with the "silver" memory heat sinks... The thermal tape does not always "stick" very well...
Pros: Fit an old Visiontek HD4850 PCI-E card
Cons: Fan doesn't connect to the card - instead to the motherboard (with a small internal fan controller).
Summary: It's extremely frustrating when you NEED to use a product, but nothing goes right. I had to fit this in a computer, with very tight space. This was the perfect VGA cooler for the job, low-profile, quiet, high performance. Unfortunately, there was no way the plastic thumbscrews were going to work.
Pros: Functions okay.
Cons: *Mounting hardware too big for my application. *Wires became unattached.
Pros: I installed this baby on my old Geforce 8800gt. This video card used to get to ~60 degrees when idle, but now it idles at 42 degrees! Super quiet too, have owned this for a couple of months and no problems so far.
Cons: A little bit pricey and the controller is somewhat unnecessary.
Summary: All that said, I'd be skeptical about using this cooler with anything more than a 4850/5830/6850/7850, as their TDP and wattage requirements under load are much higher than the 80W of the 4770. I tend to run around 45C under load. I guess it depends on how toasty one likes their hardware to run.
Pros: I have this cooler installed on an reference-design HD 4770 whose fan died unexpectedly. It has brought my temperatures down by 20C under load! Even at the highest fan setting (via the included fan controller) the unit is infinitely quieter than the stock cooler and inaudible over the sound of th...
Cons: The official compatibility chart needs to be updated with more modern mid-range cards--this thing will definitely fit cards from the HD 5k/6k/7k series, as their 4-post cooling setups are identical to the one used on my 4k series card.
Pros: This fan is great, pure solid copper feel, but still light weight. I changed my fan out because the original one was so loud. I used arctic 5 for paste and seamed to work great. After an hour of came play copper fan was still at room temp.
Cons: Make sure you check the clearance of the fins to adjacent PCI slots. Otherwise it was hitting the PCI slot and not fitting into the slot needed.
Summary: Have this on an old GTS 250 1gb. Solid cards. Saving up for a GTX 6 series or Radeon wahtever.
Pros: Affordable, makes extra space since it's smaller than stock coolers. Brings idle temps down to ~32c.
Cons: Zalman FanMate stuff is garbage. 3 coolers, none of them seem to work with the controller. I end up plugging them into the mobo aux fan ports and control them via the motherboard utility. Worse, however, is that it didn't bring load temps down much at all; I'm still burning at ~65-75c depending o...
Cons: Terrible, with the fan turned all the way to max my 7970 reaches over 100c+ on "good" settings(SC2,WoW,BF3) even though i dropped my O.C. setting to default. The original thermal paste is a throw away (arctic paste dropped it 5c idle from stock paste), never the less that it only comes with enoug...
Summary: Awesome AWESOME. My other fan mightve been dirty but i dont know that differences is pretty amazing. Plus it came with a fan control (Fanmate2).
Pros: This fan is absolutely amazing! The install was very easy and very quick, took me about 10mins. I installed this on to my GeForce 9600GT Stock Fan idle - ~65C heavy gaming - ~98C Zalman VF900 idle - ~32C heavy gaming - ~46C Unbelievable! Plus it was at the lowest RPM ( Silent Mode)I would most de...
