Solid as milled aluminum...

Wesley M., Newegg
27 November 2010
  • Pros: Fits my Abit AW9D fitted with a Pentium D 3.0GHz without hitting any capacitors or coils where every other cooler mount has failed. The stock cooler would not hold itself in place due to hitting the capacitors on the edge of the LGA775. Unless I held it onto the CPU it would overheat and shut the...
  • Cons: Does not hold the cooler 100% tightly against the proc. There is a little side-to-side twisting allowed. However, it maintains the CPU at a perfectly normal operating temp and does not seem to pull away from the proc.

Shazad b., Newegg

  • Pros: lets u use older zalmans on lga775 sockets
  • Cons: so after i installed it i could still wobble my zalman left-right. ..was a little concerned. turned out the zalman was pressing down w/ enough force but still lets the heatsink move...it should be like that but it works, cant really complain.

Zalman Update

SLDC G., Newegg
17 September 2009
  • Summary: Zalman's website is great. Click on the support tab on the product page and they have helpful animated instructions.
  • Pros: This is an update on the clip compatibility on the Asus P5ND2-SLI- was getting 38 c idle on pentium d 2.8 with the all copper hs from zalman. Gave a 2nd life for a used Socket A HS and at a good price. Includes easy to apply thermal paste that works pretty well.
  • Cons: It will work on that motherboard but you must flip the clip upside down so that the notch no longer works with the J hook on the 775 socket. When installed correctly the latch for the CPU HS Fan hits the motherboard cooler so you have to rotate the clip 90 degrees.

Pay more

Christopher L., Newegg
13 February 2009
  • Summary: Great solution for a specific need. The cooler this works on is quite effective despite its age, and also keeps the northbridge and v-regulators from overheating.
  • Pros: Should clear the caps around most motherboards
  • Cons: Was way less than 3 bucks shipped free a few days ago. Now way more than twice the money. You be the judge.

Great Little Gadget

Scott W., Newegg
17 April 2008
  • Pros: Nice option for those who have a older Zalman 7000 series HS fan. Took my HS/fan off the old Intel 478 board, and with this part was able to use on my new Q6000 mobo. Nice cheap price too.
  • Cons: N/a.

User Review

Christopher P., Newegg
15 August 2007
  • Pros: Attaches easily to the MB.
  • Cons: I was shorted one of the screws that attaches the heatsink to the clip so had to make a trip to the hardware store. Paper washers between the screws and the MB are kind of cheap.

  • Pros: fit nicely on my msi p6n sli-fi mobo.
  • Cons: wish there was a better way to "guide" the hs/f on the mounting bracket. i'm sure i have more thermal paste on the board than i do between the hs/f and cpu.
