Works great on my Sapphire 3870

Timothy C., Newegg
23 April 2008
  • Summary: Don't buy this for its LED light, as its just too dim. I purchased this from another store a long while ago. I decided recently to try it on my Sapphire 3870 card (the card that takes up two slots).
  • Pros: Very quiet/silent on the low speeds. It also cools my 3870 card very well on the low speeds!
  • Cons: LED light is VERY dim.

User Review

Robert F., Newegg
5 April 2008
  • Summary: definitely worth the purchase, and its 8800GT compatible!
  • Pros: This thing is great, i have used 2 of them so far. one is on an X1950XT AGP and the other is on my EVGA 8800GT Superclocked. It keeps my GT at around 33c idle and 45c on load. not only that but it has red LEDs to match my setup.
  • Cons: the fan kinda hangs over the second slot too much. it ended up touching the solder on my X-Fi Fatal1ty card causing a system shutdown. thankfully the card is ok but im gunna have to look into different cooling haha.

Excellent cooler

Joseph B., Newegg
13 March 2008
  • Summary: With the small heat sinks that come with the unit I purchaed, it is good idea to warm up the thermal tape with a lighter for a few seconds then twist, push and hold them in place for about 15 seconds for a solid fit.
  • Pros: I have an Nvidia 7950 GT OC. With the stock fan installed, normal idle temperatures were around 60C degrees with higher loads reaching upwards of 75 - 80C. Installing this fan with the heat sinks that came with it, the temperature dropped to 40C at idle and never have reached above 55 at full loa...
  • Cons: Fan does get a little noisy at full speed and higher temperatures but fan noise is not really an issue to me. Aside from that there is really no cons.

  • Cons: Red LED is not bright enough.

Big improvement from Tidewater!

Anonymous, Newegg
18 January 2008
  • Summary: I actually bought this fan to replace the Tidewater VGA watercooling system, and I wish that I had bought this one originally and never thought about getting the Tidewater in the first place.
  • Pros: Very easy to install! Instructions are crystal clear! Another fantastic Zalman product! Installed on my ATI Sapphire X1900XT and it's cooling very nicely! Pretty quiet without needing to use the Silent Mode. And, as always, Newegg delivers like no other!
  • Cons: It's a relatively small gripe, but the power cable comes out of the top of the fan instead of the bottom - depending on your taste/wiring needs, it can be a challenge to play around with this to work to your advantage. Also, I chose not to use the FanMate (I just plugged my fan into the motherboa...

3870 good fit

MARK K., Newegg
9 January 2008
  • Summary: didn't use the mem sinks. Applied some AC MX-2 and reused the substantial one piece units that come attached to the 3870. No clearance problems. Conclusion, the stock 3870 will cool if you can stand the shrill fan. This works and SOUNDS GREAT
  • Pros: Well engineered product as always from Zalman. I was concerned with the application because the 3870 is not listed as fitting. FYI the holes are the same as the 1900 series. On low fan setting 30 C and on the high fan setting 50 C under 100% load.
  • Cons: none, some people don't like the fanmate attachment, but I like being able to physically turn down the fan when not gaming and am not offended by the looks.

Works great with my 8600GTS

Lewis J., Newegg
12 November 2007
  • Summary: I tried the Duoorb from Thermaltake, couldn't get it to work on my 8600GTS or my 7900GTX due to capacitors in the way. I've gone with Zalman for almost all my cooling needs now. I'm sticking with Zalman from now on.
  • Pros: Though it doesn't say it works with GeForce 8 series, I bought one to see if it would work with my 8600GTS and it mounted perfectly. Nice red glow. Easy EASY install. Smaller then the stock cooler and runs a few degrees cooler.
  • Cons: Price.. Where I bought it, this was 10.00 more then the VF-900. Guess the 10.00 goes to Fatal1ty for the naming rights.

A+++++++++

Joshua P., Newegg
19 July 2007
  • Pros: I have never installed cooling .. EVER.. This was a breeze. The installation is idiot-proof. My 7900 GTX improved from being hot to the touch to cool to the touch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  • Cons: The ram heatsinks were a little annoying.

Excellent

Anonymous, Newegg
4 July 2007
  • Summary: I hate cleaning generic thermal paste off of the stock heatsinks on video cards.
  • Pros: This thing dissapated the heat so well that when I would go to touch it, it was actually room temperature or a bit cooler, I did not feel any heat on the video card, which with the old fan is such a drastic change.
  • Cons: None.
