Clip Issue

Richard R., Newegg
17 February 2015
  • Summary: I will be checking the temp on my processor daily to make sure the paste supplied by Zalman won't be causing an overheating issue.
  • Pros: Quiet. Looks good
  • Cons: Intel clips I received are not the ones pictures in the install video on the Zalman site. http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Product_Setup.php?Idx=416 I purchase my first 9900MAX over 1.5 years ago. I wsa getting a Fan Speed error from my computer so I purchased another 9900MAX. The Intel clips wi...

Impossible to install for AMD

Matthew R., Newegg
31 January 2015
  • Pros: Looks awesome, good price, mostly good reviews.
  • Cons: I bought this cooler along with a new FX 8320E and Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard with high hopes of keeping the new cpu cool with little effort. Little did I know the problems that would come from trying to install this cooler. The cooler uses a custom mounting bracket which is understandable...

Do NOT buy this CPU Cooler

Damon S., Newegg
23 November 2014
  • Summary: Stay away from this
  • Pros: The fan does a great job keeping the CPU cool.
  • Cons: Due to the horrible instructions I put the fan in the wrong way and was circulating the hot air inside my case. The screws are almost impossible to tighten with the board installed. The wrench they supplied was junk and started to strip the ball end you have to use to tighten at the extreme angle...

Too massive, broke my i7 1155 socket

Ross M., Newegg
29 October 2014
  • Summary: I can't recommend this to anyone with a 1155 socket, perhaps it works better with other styles.
  • Pros: Cooling performance was amazing, it seemed like the fan was always spinning at it's minimal RPM. Very happy with this aspect of the product. Installation was cumbersome, the mounting screws were hard to reach, basically needed to remove the entire motherboard to access them. Tough, but it was exp...
  • Cons: The pros are irrelevant , since the mass of this cooler actually ended up damaging my i7 1155 CPU socket. The PC was never dropped or mishandled, I was always extremely careful with it. The cantilever action appears to have been just too much, and damaged the pin on the CPU. I was able to recover...

ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Peter K., Newegg
26 October 2014
  • Summary: I'm just building my next system. There are plenty of competitors. I ordered one from a different vendor. I would still like this one replaced, but if I don't hear back soon I'll order a replacement from a different vendor and will never buy another product from Zalman again.
  • Pros: Quite under normal operation. Keeps my i7 4770k under 63 deg C at 4.3GHz 7 1.24v.
  • Cons: This is my 2nd review, don't know how to edit my first. Great cooler, but the warranty is worthless. 3 emails and an online RMA request have gone without answer. Phone number on Newegg's website for this product is disconnected. I'm dropping what I would have rated a 5 egg down to 1 egg.

don't waste your time!

M. Ali, Amazon
17 June 2014
  • Summary: I've use Zalman products with excellent results before so this is extremely disappointing. I tried to install this on Asus for Phenom XII 955. It wasn't meant to be. don't waste your time or money. this is a poorly designed product.

Way too hard to install

advo, Amazon
3 June 2014
  • Summary: I'd rather pay an extra $10 and get one specific to my motherboard. Zalman is getting cheap and I'm finally fed up with them. Was easily the worst part of my new computer install. Previous models have instantly snapped in. Will not be buying Zalman ever again.

HORRIBLE Installation

Albert L., Newegg
9 May 2014
  • Summary: I had high hopes for this cooler, but I'm very dissapointed. I went back to the stock intel cooler for now until I can take the time to switch it out with something that will fit better.
  • Pros: I'm sure it works great if you can get it installed.
  • Cons: I spent over an hour trying to get this thing installed. The tolerances were just far too tight trying to install this on my gigabyte motherboard. I could never get all 4 screws threaded at the same time without applying so much pressure I was afraid of breaking something. And then of course once...

Terrible Mounting Hardware

Rusty P., Newegg
5 May 2014
  • Pros: It looks like it would work good...
  • Cons: I read some of the reviews on here stating that the screws are too short, or that the heat sink just doesn't fit right. I thought that these people must not really know what they are doing or something. This is my third build using Zalman products, and I have never been let down so much by this c...

User Review

BRYAN S., Newegg
5 April 2014
  • Summary: If all the parts were there, it probably been a great CPU fan. You guys are slipping if you don`t do insurance that everything is there. There is know excuse for this.
  • Pros: It might be a great CPU fan, from past expertness it is a great CPU fan.
  • Cons: Have the parts for mounting it, they were missing and the paste that came with it was hard as a rock. It must of been on the shelf a long time.
