Summary: I've use Zalman products with excellent results before so this is extremely disappointing. I tried to install this on Asus for Phenom XII 955. It wasn't meant to be. don't waste your time or money. this is a poorly designed product. there is no way to install the fan on the CPU without a 2nd pair of hands. the supplied hex isn't long enough nor sturdy nor the right size for some of the screws. it shredded one and I was able to salvage it with my own, bigger hex wrench.
Summary: I'd rather pay an extra $10 and get one specific to my motherboard. Zalman is getting cheap and I'm finally fed up with them. Was easily the worst part of my new computer install. Previous models have instantly snapped in. Will not be buying Zalman ever again.
Summary: First, this thing looks amazing, and probably works great, but it is not designed for AM3+ processors, even though it's printed right in the install manual. There is no way to make the included brackets work without bending them, or REALLY forcing the board toward the mounting bracket. On top of that, mine was missing screws, and the fan was actually crooked between the two sets of fins.
Summary: I became a fan these type of heatsinks Zalman made after I first purchased the Zalman CNPS9900-LED CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/775/1156/1366) unit. In fact I bought two of these for my two rigs in two different countries. Because one of the heatsinks was partially damaged during a move, I decided to order this seemingly updated version of the module.
I run AMD CPUs for the AM3 socket.
