OEM Heatsink/ Fan That Comes With CPU May Be Better
1 week ago
Summary: I am unable to return this (it has been too long). I haven't been able to find a place to recycle it. Either use the the heat sink/ fan that came with your CPU or (as I did) go with water cooling.
Pros: Looks like it could work.
Cons: Doesn't work. After installing it, I noticed that my CPU was running hot, yet the blades of this heat sink were not even warm. Takes up much space. Be careful not to cut yourself installing this.
Summary: Even the OEM heatsink/fan is better than this because it didn't break the motherboard, I would have given this 0 stars if Newegg let me. Probably the worst purchase I have ever made in my life.
Pros: The store I bought it from refunded the product, even though the copper fins were completely bent out of shape from step 6 in the instructions.
Cons: - Terrible bracket design. While following step 6 of the AMD section the motherboard cracked around the AM3 socket and the CPU also bent. Never buying Zalman again. I've been building computers since the mid 90s and I have never seen such a terrible design. IT BROKE THE MOTHERBOARD!!!!!
Nearly impossible to install, obtursive, noisy (causes case rattle)

Summary: I was not able to install this fan myself. A professional was BARELY able to do it. He had to press SO HARD to screw the fan into the motherboard I was terrified something was going to break. It took him about THIRTY MINUTES to install this.
Pros: I guess it keeps the system cool
Cons: Nearly impossible to install. So large it is obtrusive and in the way. So large it causes case rattle.
Summary: use a better grade metal, this nice fan isn't worth anything if you can mount it properly.
Pros: nice fan but...
Cons: The installation hardware is made of butter!! they use Allen screws to mount it to the bracket, due to the size of the fan it isn't easy to get to the screws and the metal is SO soft the hex head strips out quickly. this is made worse by the fact I had a DOA board so I had to do this twice. I don...
Pros: I have been using these Zalman coolers since this company has been in business. Every one was fantastic.
Cons: In the Specifications it states that it will fit an LGA 1150. That is a lie. Its not Newegg's fault. It is Zalmans. I have one on another computer that is for the 1150, the fitting are nothing as they should be. Even the instructions don't say it will fit the 1150, which the Specifications say it...
Summary: What a mess. I wasted two and half hours to install this thing. I should have stuck with Cooler Master. If you don't have the patience and special clamming tools, stay away from this product.
Pros: Contact plate, pipes and fins are made of copper. Nice packaging.
Cons: The screws were not long enough to reach the corresponding nuts below. I had to bend the bracing arms with pliers then force them down with special clamming tools. It was really hard to keep the this huge unit from sliding all over the CPU while trying to clam it in place, which in turn caused th...
Summary: Looked to be a great product except that it would not mount on my system.
Pros: Looked good
Cons: It was supposed to support the 1150 but the brackets supplied do not come down enough to attach to the motherboard. I looked at some of the pictures from reviews of other products and they seem to be using brackets where the ends bent down more. I do have have tools to bend the brackets myself so...
Summary: It took me over an hour and a half to pull everything apart, put it all together and in the FINAL step, the bolts are unable to be threaded. Amateur hour. Refund, replace or send me the correct brackets overnight mail. Youtube is FILLED with comments about people in similar situations.
Pros: I'll update later if they fix the problem - otherwise I'm returning for a refund. Gross.
Cons: My brackets, which are essential to the installation process are not bent. As in, I half almost half an inch of space in between the bolts and the screws. No contact, no threading and INSTALLATION IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Pros: Good air flow and is quiet. Large but still fits case.
Cons: There are quite a few reviews that claims that the brackets do not reach the bolts and this is the same case with me as well. If you look at installation videos, the bolts from the back of the motherboard are much longer and the bracket itself would stay on the motherboard. My rear bracket kept f...
Summary: It does not fit the AM3+ socket, so maybe stop claiming that it does.
Pros: Looks large. Made of copper.
Cons: It cannot be installed. Here is why: 1. The top bracket and the bottom bracket lie about 1.5 inches off each other once fully in place. The supplied screws for them are...not 1.5 inches long. 2. The screws are directly under the fins, meaning it is impossible to use a screwdriver for them. You ha...
