Summary: I hate returns. It takes a while to get a label and two weeks later it arrives... So I improvised with trusty prybar and needle nose pliers. It no longer hits the fins. not perfectly centered and cpu is 30 degrees cooler under load. First time buying Zalmann, last time buying Zalmann.
Pros: ordered two from the egg. Rebate on one... First one worked great, dropped loaded cpu temp 30 degrees better than stock intel fan/sink.
Cons: As for the second unit the fan was off-center. Blades were hitting the cooling fins making an unbearable noise....vibration transfer to mobo, cpu, UGH! Package was totally undamaged and none of the fins were bent. It appears the fan mounting bracket is for another model...
Cons: I ordered the product because of the good reviews, and quite operation of the fan. With the 1st one, the fan was operated @ 75dBA, more than 2x the highest decibel ratting of 19.5-35dBA, so I got a RMA. Ordered a 2nd one and it has the same issue, the fan blades are impinging on the cooling vanes...
Summary: i feel bad about putting 1 egg for the product but i'm so upset. it's not that the product is bad, i haven't even used it. i assume it's not zalman's fault so i blame newegg for this.
Pros: looks cool
Cons: haven't even used it yet but already upset at newegg. my brother purchased brand new for me. it should be in brand new condition, but it's been used. when i opened it i saw black char on the contact plate but then realized it was used thermal paste someone didn't finish cleaning up. so i check th...
Pros: Reputation and when they actually work I heard these are quiet and effective
Cons: Recent reviews across a number of sites leads me to believe that the fans on these are being shipped not centered (should have done the research before purchasing). Mine arrived and the fan blades were pushing on a few fins hard enough to push them out of place altogether (so they are not evenly ...
Summary: With over 1800 of 5 egg reviews, what could go wrong? Well, for one thing. The fan wasn't spinning. I immediately realized the fan was actually touching the copper fin and it was stuck in there unable to spin. How can they overlook this in a QA process?
Pros: Does the cooling job
Cons: semi defective item fan not as quiet as people make it out to be
Summary: The real issue and reason for the ONE EGG. Zalman has NO SUPPORT. It's not even an overstatement to be ridiculous. They literally seem to have zero support. I purchased the mounting kit from their site, a total of $6 but integral for me to get a new system up and running.
Pros: The cooler has served well for several years, and itself is not the problem. This cooler is worthwhile as a product on it's own. Read the rest however before purchasing.
Cons: No cons with the cooler, except that if you purchased it before a certain point, it requires a mounting kit to be purchased from Zalman to install on newer socket sizes
Summary: DONT GET THIS, you need a FULL size case, and you may want to beef up the mounts. Worst buy I have ever made on newegg.
Pros: Looks like ti would cool well..... I will never know.
Cons: MANY, this thing will not fit in a normal case, read about the size before buying. I finally got it mounted and was going to just leave the side off then noticed since the stupid thing is so heavy it tilts, this caused a small gap by cpu. SUPER upset with this product and now with shipping it her...
Summary: Upgrading to Thermalright or Watercooling.
Pros: It kept my Q6600 cool.
Cons: it makes a clank noise every time the fan spins a full turn, i also noticed this on my friends CNPS9700. So far none of my Zalman heatsink/fan products have held up to the test of time. Wont be buying Zalman anymore. They have been using this CNPS gimmick for way to long and still do.
