effective but noisy.

Timothy C., Newegg
31 October 2010
  • Summary: The search for a quiet AMD athlon x4 cooler continues..
  • Pros: Seems to keep things pretty cool. Instructions were tricky but not terrible.
  • Cons: Noisy noisy noisy. It does sound like one of those small model airplanes you fly out side. Even at the slowest speed. Should have believed the other reviews. Probably not a big deal for gamers but for a software developer, sitting next to it all day is not going to cut it.

Decent cooler, stupid mounting bracket

Anonymous, Newegg
17 July 2009
  • Summary: If you're positive the heatsink will never have to come off, I'd say go for it, it's a bear to get mounted but runs pretty well once it's on. If you expect to ever change the chip in your current board, forget it.
  • Pros: Full copper construction, large fan, reasonably quiet (I'm not someone that minds a computer that makes a little bit of noise), does a good job of cooling, though could be better.
  • Cons: Major major issue with mounting to an AMD AM2/AM2+ socket, the clip took a tremendous amount of pressure to get clipped, and then when I had to try and take it off 6 months later, after a poor quality XFX board went bad, it was effectively impossible to remove and the mounting bracket wound up br...

Watch Your Tones

Scott S., Newegg
7 September 2008
  • Summary: Used with Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard
  • Pros: Seemed to do the job as a heat/sink fan, CPU temp was around 29c at idle. Lighter than previous version (9500), good mounting bracket. Looks cool.
  • Cons: Way too noisy, at 'all' speeds, including low rpm 1500, noise was tonal probably due to PWM but still unacceptable for anyone attempting to build a reasonably quiet PC. Tone was not just loud but annoying! Even the stock Intel fan has a better tone.
