Summary: Just as loud as my stock fan. I literally broke 2 of the 3 brackets holding the fan in middle of the copper cylinder to kill the NOISE. There is no point in contacting anyone as its a flaw in the design. I wonder how any of them got passed QA.
Summary: If you like that BUZZZZZZZZ sound buy one. Newegg send a message and send all of your stock back to them. they dont respond to RMA or Customer support.
Pros: it cools my processor !
Cons: It's so noisy! It sounds like someone is flying a remote control plane in my back yard. Seriously ! I keep looking out the back window. Then I look down and realize its my Computer! Emailed ZALMAN with no reply. Can't blame newegg they didn't make it. I have narrowed it down to a off balance fan ...
Cons: It is loud "like in the middle of ohare airport loud" and with smart fan on it gets even worse. Definitely not a fan you want running 24/7 in you bedroom. Mounting bracket is secure but there is some play where you can move it around until the thermal patse sets up
Summary: I have been a HUGE Zalman fanboy for years. I use Zalman products exclusively in my systems. This is the first and only Zalman product that has not lived up to expectations. It appears from the reviews that this particular model has some noise issues. Seems I got lucky once, but not twice.
Pros: I have 2 of these. One is great. It is effective and quiet. Great design and materials. Easy to install in AM2/AM3 system. Literally took 3 minutes to install....
Cons: ...The second one is another matter. I installed and uninstalled the same day. Very loud fan no matter what speed it operates at. Either the fan is out of balance or the bearings are defective. This device is now sitting on a shelf.
Summary: Even with AS-5, the 9300 dropped my cpu idle temperature a not-so-impressive 3 degrees (from 32c to 29c). The AMD mounting clip is very poorly thought out. What, doesn't Zalman know that even the stock AMD coolers use a _lever_ mount?! Particularly disappointing is the sound of the cooling fan.
Pros: Attractive. On sale w/free shipping.
Cons: Even in silent mode, the fan makes an irritiating grinding noise. Minimal cooling advantage over AMD stock fan. The AMD clip mount is a PITA!
Summary: I have currently removed this from my brand new PC (it's now a pretty $50 paper weight) in exchange for the stock AMD Al-Cu Heatpipe fan which is whisper quiet even at 2900rpm. I expected a LOT more out of something with the Zalman name on it.
Pros: It cooled my Phenom X4 9950 at 3GHz (13->15X) at an idle temp of 39-40C (about 7-8C below stock fan)
Cons: LOUD LOUD LOUD...I read all the reviews and discounted the "It's really loud/annoying tone" because I have never had anything but great products from Zalman. Even at stock CPU speed (2.6GHz) it would not go below 2000rpm and as another reviewer put it "my wife complained about the obnoxious sound...
Excerpt: I have 2 of these. One particular is excellent. It is powerful and quiet. Fantastic design and materials. Easy to install in AM2/AM3 program. Actually took 3 minutes to install.... ...The second one is a different matter. I installed and uninstalled the similar day.

Excerpt: Really Good Searching It is loud "like in the middle of ohare airport loud" and with sensible fan on it gets even worse. Definitely not a fan you want operating 24ǝ in you bedroom. Mounting bracket is secure but there is some play where you can move it about till the thermal patse sets up
