  • Summary: If the clearance at the edges had been higher there'd be no issues with the ram (except for really tall chips). Even just bringing in the size a couple millimeters would have solved the biggest con.
  • Pros: Well made, durable, good size, extra parts included
  • Cons: The fan spreads out too far too low, taking up space within the adjoining ram slots. Inserting the ram first lets you use the ram slots, but the heatsink will make contact with the ram chip - which is not desirable in the least.

Stylish and efficient, but has some problems.

Howard B., Newegg

  • Pros: The heat sink performs great and it looks really cool in the case.
  • Cons: After about a year the fan of the heat sink slowly started to die, the bearing went off kilter and the fan blades started to clip the inside edge of the copper sink fins making an awful noise... Eventually I got sick of it and bought a new 100mm fan and replaced it with some engineering skills. I...

A flawed one.....for once

Marc J., Newegg
30 October 2012
  • Summary: Nothing is perfect, and I was due to find a flawed one. This will not deter me from using Zalman in the future. They are fantastic coolers. I should have returned this cooler, but it is a build for my sister N law, and I don't like her much anyway! Hehehe
  • Pros: I ALWAYS choose Zalman for my cpu coolers. I've installed roughly 50 of them, various models. Cooling performance is simply outstanding! All have been perfect, except this last one.
  • Cons: The last one I installed had a fan that was a little off balance. This creates a whine and a vibration that is felt in the case. Nothing horrible, but annoying. I turned the fan to the lowest speed using the Fan-mate controller. This made the whine/vibration tolerable.

Good, Not Great

Margaret S., Newegg
28 November 2010
  • Summary: I would go with a higher end fan (with a 4 pin connector) or stick to the stock cooler.
  • Pros: Cools wells at lower RPMs at stock CPU clock rates.
  • Cons: Encroaches on memory and hard drive areas. Loud at higher RPMs. No Cool 'n Quiet (no 4 pin connector) support. These can be deduced from the specs though.

A prettier penny

yia v., Newegg
24 December 2009
  • Summary: Its a flat cooler instead of a stand up type so it takes up a lot of space in a circular radius. Make sure you have room and nothing is in the way (like DIMMs, connectors or even large cancaps) by the CPU.
  • Pros: Keeps my E8400 @ 31 degrees idle & 43 under load. Nice blue glow from the fan if you have a case window. Comes with a controller to manually control fan speed. Has bracket that supports the heavy weight from the underside of the mobo.
  • Cons: Very noisy, I can hear it over my 2x140mm, 4x120mm case fans especially when u crank it up. The copper fins are pretty flimsy, have to be careful not the bend fins while installing. The bracket puts a lot of stress on the CPU pushing against the mobo bulging that area of the mobo's PCB but does n...

Won't fit on ASUS P5E

William S., Newegg
2 June 2008
  • Pros: Looks to be a high quality heatsink & Fan.
  • Cons: Despite advice from various sources, it turns out the Zalman CNPS7500 won't fit on my ASUS P5E motherboard. So, I'll be RMAing it for an alternative.
