  • Summary: Five stars should be saved for items like this. For a mere $20 I was able to cool and quite my home-built rig. Prior to installing this, whenever I fired up a game, it sounded like my desk was going to take off.

Really COOL product.

Bella Lugosi "bella_lugosi", Amazon

  • Summary: Super quiet. I configured the target speed at the lowest setting in the BIOS, and the target CPU temp at 55 Celsius. It keeps my CPU at 55 degrees under load (Prime95), down from an average of 65 (I previously had an older cooler, the Thermaltake SilentBoost). CPU is AMD 760k overclocked to 4.2 GHz.

  • Summary: Best cooler for the buck! Yes it does NOT completely cover my FX 8320, but it still keeps it around 30C idle which is AMAZING!

Awesome for the price

Jean-Philippe S., Newegg
26 April 2015
  • Summary: Keep your room clean, put filters on the fans slots to because this fan will grab any dust around and that may be why some people say their fans is failing after a few months of use, or it wasn't properly scr*wed in place and fell down...
  • Pros: Works better than expected, look bigger than I expected but fit to the millimeter on a MSI 970 Gaming and Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Case. Cooling a FX-6300 slightly OC'd and it never go higher than 40C
  • Cons: None

  • Pros: Great size and a decent upgrade from a stock cpu cooler. Installation was fairly easy but I've never replaced a cpu cooler before so it was all new to me.
  • Cons: Slight rattle but not an issue

Cool, quiet, worth it

Jeffery B., Newegg
22 January 2015
  • Summary: I'm glad I bought this over AMD's stock cooler. Much less noise, and I'm getting cool temperatures. If you want something beefier, you could also try Zalman's CNPS9500A for a little more money, as I've heard it can fit on virtually every motherboard they've ever tested.
  • Pros: Cool; Got my idle temps down by several degrees compared to stock cooling straight out of the box, and my load temps down even more than that. Fits in a small case with ease and cleared every component by a mile. Using an ASUS M5A78L-M LX-Plus motherboard and G.Skill RIPJAW Series RAM, for refere...
  • Cons: The only con to this is that there are grooves where the copper heatpipes touch the CPU that should be filled in with thermal grease for effective cooling.

  • Summary: First off the temp reduction over stock was quite impressive even though the stock heatsink that came with my old quad was first rate. I just bought this because I have been over clocking it and had some gift cards to spend. - AMD install is super simple and installs very solidly.

Quiet!

Douglas B., Newegg
14 January 2015
  • Pros: The stock cooler on my mother's AM3 was just too loud. I wanted something quiet, without having to remove the motherboard and install a back plate. The installation of this was pretty easy, and with Artic Silver 5, it is keeping things cool. But most importantly, it is very quiet. I do not know o...
  • Cons: None so far.

An Excellent Cooler for Some Tight Situations

John H., Newegg
31 December 2014
  • Summary: I would not use this cooler in a full-size ATX build. There are better solutions, when you have sufficient space.
  • Pros: This cooler proved ideal mounted onto a CPU populating a micro-ATX motherboard in a micro-ATX mini-tower case. Many of the micro-ATX motherboards have the RAM slots located very close to the CPU. Most CPU coolers would overlap the first RAM slot (at least). Although you can find quite a few coole...
  • Cons: This cooler does not have back plate. Some folks consider this a pro (because it's more trouble to install a cooler that requires a back plate), but I would prefer a sturdy steel back plate, because it permits you to clamp the cooler to the CPU more tightly, improving the thermal interface. Witho...
