Zalman CPNS14X Cpu Cooler is a great value if it fits!

rgathright, epinions.com

  • Summary: The Zalman CPNS14X CPU Cooler does a good job cooling your processor but does require the motherboard to be removed in some computer cases.
  • Pros: Very effective at reducing processor temperatures
  • Cons: Too large for some computer cases, requires motherboard removal

Does the job cool and quiet

Dean B., Newegg
24 December 2013
  • Pros: 120mm quiet fan, optional 2x 120mm fans - clips included, sturdy and VERY well attached to the motherboard with included mounting plate (for AMD and Intel). Does not specifically state, but it does support 1150 socket Intel (use the 1155 setup instructions to install on 1150). No hole mismatch or bracket issues. Everything came together perfectly!
  • Cons: I'm hesitant to say this is a con, but it's a tough install. Other reviews said the same thing, and I thought it was the installer. Turns out, it IS a somewhat tough install. But, it's an after-market solution to manage your heat and I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. No eggs deducted for that, but read on to see my advice regarding the installation.

  • Summary: Overall pleased with this cooler. Does an admiral job of keeping my hot 4670K OC'ed Haswell at a respectable temperature. Installation was a bit of a pain. Forget about installing this cooler without the whole motherboard removed. For the price, can't be beat. Taking 1 star off because if the Hyper 212 was the same price, i'd just go for that instead.
  • Pros: - Large heat dissipation area, - Should fit inside most mid-size cases
  • Cons: - Doesn't seem to be as high quality as my old Hyper 212+, - Despite the larger size, not sure if it's all that much better than the 212+, - Installation could be difficult

INSTALL OUTSIDE OF CASE

Ryan B., Newegg
6 October 2013
  • Pros: Temperatures are very low.
  • Cons: Installation: I don't see how this is even possible to install inside your case unless it's MASSIVE. Even taking the MB out it was still very difficult to get some of the bolts in due to the various heatsinks on my board (NB, etc.)

CNPS14x

James M., Newegg
8 January 2013
  • Summary: if you have a full ATX depending on where your ram sits it may overlap 2 ram slots. I have a asus 990 fx mobo and it sits over 2 ram slots. I had to put different ram in that had a small heat spreader to fit all 4 slots. These didn't bother me much not enough to take an egg off with how well it cools.
  • Pros: HUGE (i like that)
  • Cons: This thing is super hard to install. It took me a few hours even reading directions. However once you figure out its well worth it.

Great Item! Great Value!

Jason L., Newegg
11 December 2012
  • Pros: This is a great cooling device. It keeps my AMD FX processor well below the high temps. It runs idle at 18 C and hot around 42-25 C. It is a great unit and fit right in my Mid-Tower. I am running it with a set of Xigmatek fans and it is perfect for my needs.
  • Cons: Little tricky to install. But worth the effort to do so.

Great Item! Great Value

Jason L., Newegg
10 December 2012
  • Pros: Great cooling power. CPU stock cooler was allowing 60 C running at maximum power and 40 C at idle. With the Zalman CNPS14X I am averaging 18-20 C Idle and 45-52 C Running. Little tricky to install but worth it all in the end. Use it with two additional Xigmatek fans.
  • Cons: Little bulky. Minor inconvenience to install but worth the effort.
