Awesome cooler

Anonymous, Newegg
13 March 2012
  • Summary: I wish there was a way to make sure i did everything right with the thermal compound and that these highertemperatures arent my fault. I will re-install if i see any Temp that is way too high
  • Pros: It looks cool and it fits right as expected, i feel like it would cool really well but it pulls the heat right off my gpu and my room is an oven due to other reasons so the lowest temps i can get are 33c at idle. 52c while playing games in Ultra and running a movie in 1080p
  • Cons: I was hoping for an easier install and lower temperatures, maybe a little quieter.

Does NOT work with Asus Rampage IV Extreme!

Matthew B., Newegg
1 December 2011
  • Summary: Why is there such rotten CPU cooling support for LGA 2011 at launch? It seems I am stuck with LGA 1366 options that may or may not work or one of those closed loop liquid cooling systems that I simply do not trust. I worry about those pumps failing.
  • Pros: It may be a fantastic cooler, I wouldn't know.
  • Cons: I bought this because Asus had this listed as a QVL cpu cooler for the Rampage IV Extreme (LGA 2011). This is completely false. It simply does not FIT on the board. If you attempt to install this so that the airflow aims towards the back of the case you will find that the CNPS11X is too wide. The...

Its O.k. I guess

Jean H., Newegg
28 September 2011
  • Pros: Pretty Good performance. I overclocked my Phenom 965 to 3.8GHZ on stock voltage and the temps reach 46-48C on gaming load. 36-38C on idle. The room temps are cool on average(basement) . it will do
  • Cons: It took forever to mount this thing, forget the instructions of course. to screw down the back plate was the worst, the heat sink popping off and stuff, was thinking is this worth it.

Bigger Than You Think

Dennis R., Newegg
4 August 2011
  • Summary: I measured beforehand to make an eductated guess that it would fit in my application and it did. I knew this thing was big but still was astounded at how large it was when I pulled it out of the box.
  • Pros: This cooler is well made, quiet and works well. Temps for my socket 1155 Sandy Bridge 2500K atop an ASRock Z68 Pro 3 are a very respectable 32-33 degrees C at idle. The thing is actually beautiful in an industrial sort of way. It lined up almost perfectly with the front and rear case fans in my L...
  • Cons: The installation is somewhat involved (maybe time consuming would be better terminology) because the unit is designed for so many different socket configurations. As one other reviewer suggested, read the instructions once through in advance. Take your time, line up all the parts, set aside those...

wheelock T., Newegg
7 July 2011
  • Summary: To Zalman customer service.....YOU ROCK!!! I mean it,,, you guys are great... I emailed Zalman on a friday,,, was responded to for clarification within two hours... I responded,,, they immediately responded with "We will process your RMA request right away, and expect a confirmation e-mail...
  • Pros: Great cooling!!! and i mean GREAT!!!...full on prime95 only gets me up around 62c,,, idle around 32c ,,,and thats @4216mHz.... Great looking.....really it looks like som'n sweet Decent mounting...not as easy as older zalmans but not rocket science / compact enough that it wont invade ram's person...
  • Cons: was missing a mounting piece on the heat-sink-I'm not going to take an egg tho,,,keep reading to see why. No braiding on the fan cable......???why???.....I am going to dock an egg simply for the fact that this is an upper echelon cooler with looks representative of its price point. Quite frankly ...

Confusing installation

Anonymous, Newegg
19 June 2011
  • Summary: Overall a good HSF. I wish there was an option to disable the blue LED as its awfully bright in my room at night.
  • Pros: Keeps CPU temps very low at idle and lower than average at full load. Fan is pointed at the case's exhaust fan which I like. It is pretty quiet even at full load with the motherboard's smart control enabled. It also includes a resistor cable for the CPU fan connector to further quiet it down. I c...
  • Cons: A bracket must be stuck to the back of the motherboard with a strong adhesive which makes me uncomfortable as it drops the resale value of the motherboard. Mounting the screws to said bracket is a royal pain and you must use awkward angles to tighten them.

The Senator Craig of Heatsinks

Doll I., Newegg
9 June 2011
  • Summary: I don't want to place the blame on either product, as I'm happy with both. Just bare in mind that the widest two heat pipes protrude quite widely. After chopping one off so that it could fit the thing has worked great. Full load for 12+ hours and no core got above 57c, though I did no OCing.
  • Pros: Fits in my ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Motherboard...
  • Cons: ...after I chopped off one of the heat pipes.
