Missing AMD hardware

Anonymous, Newegg
30 August 2015
  • Pros: It's a heatsink, would work on an Intel without issue.
  • Cons: Like other reviews the AMD hardware wasn't bent like it shows in the picture. The clip to use on the stock motherboard mount was MIA, even though it was pictured. I was unable to use it on the computer.

Forgotten

Randal R., Newegg
14 June 2015
  • Summary: I ended up using my stock heat-sync and putting my own 6k rpm fan on it, stays really cool. I had totally forgotten about this heat-sync that I had bought until I reviewed my order history.
  • Pros: Good paperweight.
  • Cons: It never worked. Bad mounting, Unstable. Cpu was hotter then stock cooler. The fan was probably too slow.

WRONG BRACKETS

Casey S., Newegg
16 February 2015
  • Summary: Will rethink buying from New Egg after this experience .
  • Pros: none....should have read other comments before I purchased.
  • Cons: Does not come with the right brackets to fit Athlon processors...even though it states it will fit...Do not buy. was sent this after return...Unfortunately, the below item(s) was physically damaged and beyond the applicable Newegg.com warranty coverage as indicated in our Standard Warranty Policy...

If it came with correct pieces it'd be great???

Anonymous, Newegg
12 October 2014
  • Summary: I wrote a whole lot more than this, but it ate it, so I'll write only this: AMD AM3+ users: DO NOT BUY. KTHX.
  • Pros: Shiny?
  • Cons: Doesn't work. Incorrect AMD mounts. They came flat, with no bend on the end - will not fit FX boards.

Doesn't Fit

Gary B., Newegg
1 July 2014
  • Summary: I see no reason why my system would need this much cooling. Bigger is not necessarily better. This was clearly designed for the novice user despite its drawbacks. The day my CPU needs a heat exchanger this large is the day I buy a new CPU.
  • Pros: I was unable to install so I have no pros.
  • Cons: The screws for the socket 775 did not fit through the designated holes. I refuse to drill a brand new heat sink in order to install it. Certainly they could have tested these on all the sockets it claims to support.

User Review

Anthony M., Newegg
21 June 2014
  • Summary: If you really want to use this cooler, use the backplate that came with the motherboard instead of the garbage from Zalman, buy longer screws to install the cooler, and install the whole thing backwards if you have space issues with your memory. Also, learn the RMA process before buying.
  • Pros: It appears to be a well-built cooler. The fan runs when it is plugged in. The instructions are informative.
  • Cons: The entire thing is poorly designed. The backplate provided is "held onto" the motherboard by bad adhesive. In turn, it holds the cooler on with screws that don't have anything to thread into. The installation instructions show curved brackets holding the cooler onto the motherboard. Mine were no...

quality control issues

Michael J., Newegg
13 December 2013
  • Summary: I wish I just stuck with the cooler master cooler. for almost half the price. It was just as good. That's what I get for listening to the forums.
  • Pros: cooler looks nice
  • Cons: The mounting clips for the AMD set up, didn't have the correct shape. It was suppose to dip down on the ends according to the photo in the instructions. I looked at a youtube video and their clips had that. So apparently a bunch of coolers are out there with this issue. Now you cant screw the bac...

Wow

Nathaniel D., Newegg
29 March 2013
  • Summary: Seriously though, it seemed like my AMD clips were not bent as shown in the installation guide. I would have returned it, but I'm impatient. Seriously disappointing Zalman...
  • Pros: Works, can mount two 120mm fans...
  • Cons: This was a pain to install. I've put together my fair share of computers over the past seven years and this cooler was straight stressful. Fan sits over one of my ram slots...luckily I'm only using slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 depending on how you look at it.

better than hyper 212+

zhe x., Newegg
11 May 2012
  • Summary: zalman agent, please contact me to help me track my mail in rebate.
  • Pros: work very well, with a second fan, it cool my 2500k at 4.8ghz from 75-80c to 45-50c; compared with my hyper 212, hyper 212 only cool down temp 10-15c with dual fan.
  • Cons: super bad mount design, they ask you to use their double side glue to fix the mount on the motherboard. as a result, i can not remove the mount from my motherboard now. size too large, i have to remove one ram; noisy fan; fin is too easy to get deformed; fan clips not work well, if replaced by fa...
