Summary: Over all design is not bad. However, the cpu bracket screws are too short. I needed to use thread lock to keep them in place, before one kept coming out. The bracket it self is made from good material. The fan barring design is some what cheat, not as silent as I hoped, lots of visible vibration. At least at idle the fan is very silent. The fan controller is useless.
Summary: This is my second, with the first being a 9500 model purchased here as well. For those familiar with install of these, as I thought I was, be aware that the self-locking pressure lever on this model is apparently reserved for AMD mounts. Looks identical, although, to the one holding my Zalman 9500 on an Intel E8400, but will not-not-not fit over my Q8400 to Gigabyte board.
Summary: I want to share with other customers, that this fan gave me a very bad day, I was so happy with my new AMD (t) Phenom /x4 955 until I got this Fan, the metal clip is extremely difficult or nearly impossible to put it in the right position. Just to set it up, I was almost fighting with this fan, I use all kind of tools to get it right, that eventually I got cut. I knew that it was going to happened, because the copper sheet are very sharp.
Summary: 1. These comments only apply to Intel Socket 775 installations. 2. For an initial installation into a clear-sided enclosure, this device is acceptable. For an upgrade, it may not be worth the effort, and it is definitely not worth the cost. Noise reduction is not that much when compared with 20 dollar CPU fans (as determined by ear and meter for both push-pin and bolts-with-back-plate installation designs), and not at all noticeable if you are running six or more drives...
Summary: its price is higher than better performing coolers such as tuniq tower 120 (in my mind is the best). Even the typhoon with a little cheaper price would do better than this cooler. If you don't push your chip to the limits and want to have something look nice behind the side glass door. Get this. Installation is also easier than most other top coolers.
Pros: it has the look and it does look very nice behind the side glass. its performance is very solid and fan is quiet. It got my e6400 overclocked to 3.0 ghz right under 60 full load and about 40 idled.
Cons: Somewhat disappointing for me because I expected a lot more from Zalman since the 9500 series did so well. I don't think this has any improvements over the previous version of 9500.
Good Air Cooler CNPS9700 LED Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler
28 December 2006
Summary: Well what can I say, it went FAR beyond my expectations This cooler only keeps my E6600 overclocked to 3.5ghz at 40C idle and 60C load. It is too heary, you must be VERY careful when it is attached to the CPU. and it is big, you need a big PC case to install it. The fan control is not good, you should forget about the fan control if your overclocking. But any way, it is running good and looking good in the PC case.
Summary: Qua koeling is hij redelijk goed, qua geluid minder.. Ik heb hem nu 6 maanden maar om een of andere stomme reden veroorzaakte hij kortsluiting op mn moederbord, dus loopt je pc vaak vast, haal de zalman eraf
