VIZO Armada II vs Thermaltake RamOrb

  • Summary: Before we get into testing the VIZO Armada II Dual-Fan RAM cooler and the Thermaltake RamOrb, I thought I should mention a few things about out test system. The temperatures were taken with a ThermoHAWK 400L IR Thermometer on an open test bench - the High Speed PC Top Deck Tech Station .
  • Pros: Both offer near-silent performance, VIZO Armada is easy to install, VIZO Armada is easy on the wallet, Thermaltake RamOrb offers great performance
  • Cons: Thermaltake takes some care to install - especially if you are removing other heatspreaders

  • Conclusion: In the end it didn't make a huge difference in performance, 2 degree's under load is better than nothing. The Armada did make a little more noise than I would have hoped. Where the Armada II really showed off was in the looks department.

  • Summary: Tonight we are going to have a look on a new product from Vizo, the Armada II memory cooler. This is the upgraded version of the original Armada memory cooler which featured 3 fans. The Armada II features only two fans which might be as good as three, we will find that out later on.

  • Conclusion: The Vizo Armada II does what it claims to do and does those things very well indeed. That is that it reduces the temperature of your memory modules whilst being extremely simple to fit and not making any noticeable noise. It also has some bright blue LEDs to add to the cosmetic appeal.
  • Pros: Very quiet, Fantastic blue light effect – if you want blue of course!, Extremely quick and easy to install, Shifts a good amount of air
  • Cons: Didn’t provide any more overclocking headroom on my particular setup, Only available in blue LED
