Is somewhat less than desired

Anonymous, Newegg
8 April 2010
  • Summary: C'm on I used Artic Silver Squashed the pea size plop of Artic Silver on the Chip and locked R down should have expected more cooling from this I'm in a Large Lan Li K 58 case with 2 x 140 mm case fans more than sufficient air movement.
  • Pros: Seemed like would be good. It is Very Quiet, Though Too Quiet! The good news is I can buy an other 92 mm PWM fan and insert it in this HS.
  • Cons: Runs too slow RPM will turn at just 679 RPM according to PC Probe II which has been known to somtimes be inaccurate. but it hasn't gone above 700 RPM & CPU indicates temp @ 45 to 48 C idle nothing else happening.

unexpected surprise

rafael l., Newegg
25 March 2010
  • Summary: all in all a great cooler. im sure that a zalman would more than match the performance of this cooler but for the price its a great buy. my e7500 clocked at 3.7ghz runs at 35c idle and does not go above 60c on full load in orthos
  • Pros: i purchased this from a local dealer on sale(yay). it was a cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive coolers i saw and i needed a quick fix for a broken stock intel cooler(lga 775). i was surprised by how massive this think looks inside my case, and even more surprised by the quality and...
  • Cons: installation instructions could be a lot more clearer. took me 20 mins just to figure out what went where then another 10 to actually mount it to the board. but because of the great job this thing does to cool my chip i will not remove any eggs. just understand that this isnt one of those 5 min i...

Very Cool, Very Quiet, Tall

William C., Newegg
28 June 2009
  • Pros: Using with: - GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ Processor Oddly this is the first time I have ever seen the motherboard's system temp higher than the CPU temp. Initially I was getting around 38c for CPU and 42c for Sy...
  • Cons: It is very big and tall, so measure your case. I have an Antec full size tower and it has plenty of clearance in it.

Good cooling and low noise

Edward S., Newegg
12 June 2009
  • Summary: I don't overclock so I can't speak to how the cooler stands up in that scenario.
  • Pros: I've been very pleased after buying this to replace the stock HSF that came with my Phenom 9550. Noise was my prime consideration, as the stock fan was pretty noisy when the fan spun all the way at 4500 rpm. The fan on this cooler looked impressive and even at its top speed it's not noticeable ov...
  • Cons: Some of the heat pipes are very close to a few capacitors on my motherboard. Could be a concern going forward, but only on motherboards with capacitors very close to the CPU socket like mine (Biostar A740G).

Very Cool

Joseph W., Newegg
3 June 2009
  • Summary: Everything is first class quality. You won't regret this CPU cooler
  • Pros: Very Quiet. Fan is all they say. Large cooling areas w/six heat pipes are very efficient. Gained 1000 points on 3Dmark06 just from putting on this cooler with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+. More cooling potential than it will ever need. Should be more than enough for the Quad cores and up.
  • Cons: Thing is BIG. Very tall. Verify the dementions of your case. Also, fan doesn't run with AMD cool and quiet setting on, but you won't need it. You can't hear it running with 12v applied. This is only a problem if you run a "stock" motherboard without the ability to change those settings.
