Thermaltake Golden Orb II
2 January 2007
Excerpt: Whether you're a serious overclocker or simply want a quiet and cool running system, choosing a quality CPU cooler is crucial. There is no shortage of choices available, making the decision factor a daunting task for some, but taking the time to research the right cooler can result in a positive long term experience.
Pros: Superb Cooling Performance, Near Silent at all Speeds, Universal Design, Motherboard Removal not Necessary for AMD, Fantastic Pricepoint
Cons: Motherboard Removal Required for Intel, Huge
Conclusion: I have to admit I was quite surprised at the Golden Orb II by Thermaltake . I expected to see a quality cooler, but was not expecting it to be so quiet. To hear the stock cooler cranking away at 5440 RPM, sounding like it was about to take flight, one would not expect a measly 1720RPM cooler that is quiet as a mouse to come and actually cool better. This heat sink is built strong, with the copper base for thermal transfer and machined fins for cooling and durability.
