Summary: That’s a pity, because otherwise this cooler is solid: The install process isn’t terrible, the performance is great, and the fan shroud is, frankly, the best we’ve seen. If you’re not rocking an over-the-top overclock, and can therefore set the Frio OCK’s fans to somewhere below full blast, you’ll find it a fine choice. But it’s just too loud to run at full volume all the time.
Pros: Straightforward install; fan mount ridiculously easy to use.
Conclusion: The Lich King was the master and lord of the Scourge, and he ruled over them telepathically from the Frozen Throne on top of Icecrown. Well, I guess until I killed him about a year ago, but that is beside the point. The Thermaltake Frio OCK, a strange name for a product, literally means Cold Over-clocker King (sic). So what does an undead lord have to do with CPU cooling? Absolutely nothing; however, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the two of them.
Overall the Frio OCK is a powerful cooler. While it can achieve some pretty good temperatures on high fan speeds, it’s just quite annoying to have your case sound like a car engine. I recommend using the fans anywhere between low-medium speeds to get the best performance/silence ratio, unless however you don’t really care about the sound then blast the fans all the way.
