Summary: Not a great fan. I don't monitor temperatures or anything but the computer I put this in first overheated and shut off after about 9 months. I opened it up and the fan wasn't spinning. I gave it a little push and it started spinning again and lasted another month or two. Just did the same and it seems to spin a little but it looks slow. Might have just gotten a dud.
Summary: This cooler was supplied with an AMD FX-6100 CPU. Definitely not adequate. Temp. just kept going up at idle. Shut it down at over 75C. Don't know how much heat this CPU can handle, and I don't want to find out the hard way! With the case side off and a big room fan blowing in full tilt, it idled at 61C. Cooler is OK, easy to install, just not suitable for this CPU.
Summary: Pros: Cheap. Moves air. Keeps processor under room temp at idle. Comes with thermal paste applied. Cons: Loudest cpu fan I have ever seen. 3 wire fan so you need a fan controller or a mother board that supports speedfan otherwise it will run at 3500 rpm all day. No way you could use this without a fan controller in a home theater computer. Shopping for a replacement right now, it's too loud even for my kids to play games on.
Summary: I got this as part of a barebones kit about a year ago. I ended up with three of them and right now I am on the second one which is now showing symptoms of failure so I would average each lifespan to about 6 months. It does work - quit enough and cool. But very short lifespan.
Summary: Works and installed fine and I'm sure it will keep everything cool enough. Problem is this cooler is way too noisy. I'm shopping for a replacement now. If you like a quiet system stay away from this item.
