Nothing else comes close

Jeremy F., Newegg
11 January 2013
  • Summary: I wish, I wish, I hadn't killed that fish.
  • Pros: Quieter than fans that move half as much air. Sweet blue light.
  • Cons: Heavy and must apply a lot of pressure to install.

YEP

Jason R., Newegg
25 March 2012
  • Summary: Gigabyte 970a motherboard AMD am3 FX-6100 processor 12gigs of ram 1 terabyte of drive space temps at 13 degrees Celcius with this beast in there
  • Pros: I've had this "weapon" since it came out, put in a couple of computers, but 2 years ago i had to put it away cus my new computer could take it. well now i have a newer computer, which ive had for about 3 days now. was sitting here earlier today and remember this thing in the garage, so i did some...
  • Cons: no cons yet, cooling a 6 core with ease and the blue goes with the inside of the case

Great CPU cooler

Tyler B., Newegg
15 April 2011
  • Summary: Picked this up open box from Newegg, and couldn't be happier. Worlds better than the stock AM2 fan, both in noise and in cooling capability. The whole system runs whisper quiet now, whereas before CPU heat would ramp up fans under load.
  • Pros: Attractive, sturdy, Quiet and effective
  • Cons: none so far

Very Impressed

Anonymous, Newegg
7 January 2011
  • Summary: by the time i went to order it, new egg was sold out. ordered from somewhere else. i was concerned about clearance with my NB, but cleared with room to spare. i can see where mounting could be an issue, but took me 5 mins or so once mobo was out of case. just take your time.
  • Pros: quiet, blue led, dropped operating temps 4-6 celcius, moves a lot of air.
  • Cons: none with heatsink, directions are another matter. just lucky i could figure out what parts to use for amd proc. they're in the directions, but you have to decipher it.

Excellent CPU Cooler

Anonymous, Newegg
2 January 2011
  • Summary: This is a very heavy unit, so making sure all the fasteners are tight is crucial. I've not had any issues with this cooler fitting on the three different motherboards I've installed this on (ASUS P5GDC Deluxe, ASUS P5B, and a Gigabyte Intel motherboard.
  • Pros: Solid copper core, very quiet 120mm fan, beautiful blue LED glow - not too bright, nor too dim, just perfect. Moves a very good amount of air, keeps all the processors I've installed this on very cool, two of which were very notorious for running hot. I currently have this sink installed on a Pen...
  • Cons: NONE.

Still works great

James H., Newegg
24 November 2010
  • Summary: As mentioned above, this has been in use in my media center. It is currently running on an MSI 785 motherboard with an AMD 3.2Ghz quad core Phenom 2 and 4GB of DDR2 800. So far, this machine has been running 24/7 for over 4 years and never had a heat issue. Well worth it for similar applications.
  • Pros: This fan has now seen 4 different processors, from an AMD Athlon 64X2 5600+, all the way to my current AMD Phenom 2 X2 550 (unlocked to 4 cores), and 2 different motherboards. It has kept every one of these chips cool, and does its job silently. If you need a fan for a media center that doesn't m...
  • Cons: The heatsink is huge. It does not leave much room for ram clearance, and I have had some difficulty in the past changing ram out (corsair XMS DDR2 800's), if you are using ram with over sized heat spreaders, they likely won't fit underneath. This fan also has the screws in a very awkward location...

HUGE FAN+HEATSINK

Sacha D., Newegg
22 October 2010
  • Summary: If it rattles, most likely you have the power cable for the CPU fan in the way. Just push it down a little and then you'll be fine. It is a very good and efficient fan though, and not only for the noobs :)
  • Pros: Really efficient fan and heat-sink for the AMD X6 Thuban. Installed it on a few of those and keeps the CPU around 24C at 50% load (@ ~ 92W) and below 40C at full load (@ 140W). Silent, surely makes less noise than the fan on your graphic board. Comes with back plate and spacers for both Intel and...
  • Cons: It is HUGE & HEAVY. I installed one recently with an AMD mobo from ASUS. Make sure you install your RAM DIMMS before you install the fan. If your RAM comes with heat spreaders that make your memory taller (5-8mm above the chip) then you better install these on the first two banks BEFORE installin...

Worth every penny.

JC M., Newegg
17 July 2010
  • Summary: It's big so make sure you have enough room in your case. Also, you will have to apply some pressure to put it on. Don't worry though, nothing will break.
  • Pros: Keeps everything nice and cool and it's so quiet you can barely hear it.
  • Cons: Wish it came in different colors.

amazing

Jason R., Newegg
16 July 2010
  • Summary: Oced my cpu with this thing from a 1.6ghz to 3.3, i absolutely love this fan, i just wish i fit on a 1156 so i can upgrade to i5 quad core... if thermaltake does make one, or even an adapter, i would buy it instantly and then upgrade, even when this one goes out, i see myself buying it again
  • Pros: bought it cus it gets hot in my room in the summer. this fan keeps my whole board cool, and my leg. its fairly quiet and looks good
  • Cons: other people complain about the size, its massive... i feel confident and safe knowing that if i have to, i could hurt someone with it, lol.... but i personally like it, cools more that it has too
