  • Summary: Usually when we lower fan speeds to a silent setting, processor temperatures go up, not down. But getting this cooler on the CPU is the real treat. Snapping the single clip across the device’s base takes all of 10 seconds, easily the fastest installation of any air cooler we’ve seen. Were it a bit less bulky, the Big Typhoon VX would be gusting its way to a Kick Ass for sure.
  • Pros: One of the best air coolers we've ever tested. And it's pretty quiet.
  • Cons: It's friggin' huge.

  • Summary: The Big Typhoon VX is a good CPU cooler from Thermaltake, which makes justice to its name. It’s huge and heavy, but it has the advantage of carrying a large diameter 120mm fan, which can be used at low rotations, but still provide good airflow, granting good performance with low noise. Special thanks to the folks at Thermaltake USA for the review opportunity and providing the evaluation unit.
  • Pros: Universal platform (Intel LGA775, AMD 754/939/AM2), Six heat pipes, Solid performance, Built-in speedfan controller, Quiet cooler
  • Cons: Size; Big – may complicate installation in some motherboards and cases, Weight

  • Cons: In the year 2002, Thermaltake announced Purepower line of power supply unti for the ever-growing power-hungry PCs.
