Summary: I have a slightly different model, but have had several CHill Pads over the years. I have not found them to be noisy, and they are so effective, the laptop is downright icy. My only complaint to Targus - modify them so they have extendable legs or something in the back to support the docking station. Right now, I have to prop my docking station up with a couple PostIt pads.
Pros: works well laptop never runs hot , very low price
Cons: usb cable broke on my prior one , needs redesign to support a docking station
Summary: The mat itself feels great on my lap, but that's about the only thing good about it. It didn't turn on at all right out of the box, so I am unable to comment on anything other than my frustration that it didn't work at all. I think part of the problem here is that there is no on/off switch to play with. I tried 4 different ports on two different laptops. The part of the cord that inserts into the mat feels a little loose, so the issue might be there.
Summary: I brought this for my laptop per dell because a few months after purchasing my laptop began to have problems overheating. I went to my local Staples and at their recommendation as well as dell I was urged to buy a cooling pad. I purchased this product and the first month was GREAT however the second month it broke. I took this back to Staple and they replaced the item......That was a month ago I am now back at square one!! I at this point beyond mad!!!
Summary: This product seemed to be great when I first got it. Used it under a 14" laptop, it was comfortable, and it did the trick for cooling. But after about 8 or 9 months, it just quit. The fans will not come on at all. By reading previous reviews, I guess I'm lucky it lasted me that long!
Summary: The mat is noisy, but does the job. My issue is with the usb cord. The plug is not durable the thin gold prongs bend everytime you plug them in and any little bump to the cord breaks them off into the usb adapter. I did purchase another Targus, but I had to pay $20 more. The plug is very similar, but appears to be somewhat more durable.
Summary: I've gone through 2-3 laptop coolers in the past. Each of them were different brands and prices. I thought that by purchasing this Targus one, I would expect more longevity from its more expensive price. Usually when i get new laptop cooling pads, they perform well the first couple of months. After a while, they start to degrade in function. Sadly I cannot recall how long I exactly had this Targus mat, I know it has been either 10 months to a year or a year + half.
Pros: lightweight , quiet fans at first , efficient cooling
Cons: can't take it apart , retracted connector stuck inside chill mat
Summary: I'm in the military. Bought this from the Post Exchange not too long ago. Thought I could trust a big name like Targus to come through with a quality product. Especially for the price. However this product rattles like an old oscillating fan. That's the first thing I thought of when my ears were violated by the sounds this thing made. Targus, you have failed me. I expect a AT LEAST, a refund. Build quality is also a let down. Thing feels like a plastic piece of junk.
