Too much for too little

kcid, Radioshack
25 May 2014
  • Excerpt: I had an old laptop fan, but after a period of time the wire was exposed and no longer works. Now I found what I thought was a higher end laptop fan. While playing the same game with the old fan, I now have half the frame rate I used to have AND paid MORE for the wonderful upgrade of an extra fan. If you have a pc that tends to overheat, than this is not going to help much at all. The power behind each fan is almost non-existent.
  • Pros: Quiet
  • Cons: Unreliable, Weak

Worst purchase.

Lexy, Office Depot

  • Excerpt: I bought this item about a week ago, for my Acer laptop that is about 3 years old and tends to overheat. I had an old fan that worked better than this that I spent 10 dollars on. I would not recommend this to anyone. It's fabric makes the overheating worse, and doesn't even cool the laptop. I will be returning this ASAP.
  • Cons: Quality, Pricey/Poor Value, Difficult to Use, doesn't work!

  • Summary: I used ASUS GPU Tweak's GPU heat monitor application as a guide. I noticed that my laptop, when gaming, GPU was operating at about 90C. I was hoping to get that down into the 80's so after reading many reviews I purchased this one. Bottom line my GPU heat under load didnt change at all with the cooling pad hooked up. I think most of these reviews are based on appearance , user comfort, and portability. These are all covered by a CNET review I read and they are very good.

  • Summary: I was tired of burning my legs when every I sat on the couch and used my laptop. I seen this product and purchased it hoping it would fix the heat problem. I couldn't be more happy. The duel fans are super quiet and the heat exchange is just wonderful. I would recommend this to everyone who owns a laptop. Absolutely what I was looking for. Best thing I purchased this holiday season!!!!!

Service at Stratford CT stinks.

  • Excerpt: My HP G7 Laptop had a defective fan warning on the startup screen. The Staples Tech in Stratford CT store told me he had to send it out for a very expensive $379.00 repair. He Sold me the mat and said try this it might work. I did try it and it worked but I still got the warning message on my screen stating one of the fans wasn't working and it could damage computer. I did not know what to do so I brought it to a local repair shop called Computer Fox here in Milford, CT.
