Summary: we have Alienware laptops at our company. we use the wire stands at our desks but when you are on the road these pads are great. through attrition we are down to just mine. the other employees saw it and we just order 10 more off EBay. they are not designed for several hours of use but 2-3 hours and our Alienware heaters have NO issues and we are in Alabama in the summer.
Cons: not a long time solution over 3 hrs get a stand
Summary: I used one of these for over 3 years before the crystals deteriorated to where they don't draw much heat out anymore. As a gamer, I got a lot of help from it- first on a Dell Latitude 810 and now with an Alienware M11x (and those little buggers get H-O-T!). You DO have to use a little bit of thinking & effort with it, b/c if you just slap it under your laptop & leave it all the time, you'll get the heating issues a couple of other reviewers panned it for.
Pros: no noise , no power needed , easy to pack & carry
Cons: should have "cut-out" corner for fan intakes
Summary: I do not like this cooling pad, All it does is get hot and it doesn't even help my laptop stay cool. the laptop just keeps getting hotter and hotter. and it doesnt keep my lap cool either. i am currently using this product right and and i is NOT WORKING.
Summary: I got this as bundle with my laptop order. It works great keep everything cool, and allows breathing room for my laptop. Only con is that the pads exterior material is pretty slick, so on a lap you need to make sure it wont slide. i generally use it when im on the bed and it works good. I dont like fans because of the noise, so this is perfect for me. My computer does not generate that much heat anyways so lucky me!
Seemed to quit working...not that good when it was working

Summary: Wishful thinking that this design could ever do what the fan cooling systems do for you.
Pros: Potential uses as a floor mat or table mat?
Cons: Seemed to draw a bit of heat away at first, but really only slightly helped. My guess would be that it maybe helps 5 degrees or so. Then the crystals quit turning into liquid at all, and it didn't seem to help out at all. This is the only laptop I've ever bought one for (and this laptop has only been used for low demand tasks, yet it is already having overheating problems).
Summary: Two things about it i noticed one the material sits too close to my bottom of my laptop covering up the air holes for my ram and hard drive bay. i have a gaming style laptop and it generates a lot of heat so much so that the pad actually holds the heat in on my laptop and it will randomly shutdown because it over heated. the Second thing is the crystals in it need to remain level when cooled down or they'll collect to one side of the mat.
Summary: I have been in need of a new cooling dock. I hate the ones with fans. Everything get stuck in them and they get loud as they get older. This time while looking I noticed a box that looked interesting. When I picked it I was surprised to see it was a cooling "PAD" :) Priced right ...around $30 I was sold. Brought it home and LOVE IT! No fan and my laptop bottom is cool! I don't know how it works.. I just know it does :) I'm very impressed with this pad and I recommend it.
Summary: When the crystals melt the heat builts up thus negating the purpose of the pad. The pad becomes soft and blocks the vents from under the laptop. I recommend to check the laptop after an hour of use. One benefit of the heated pad is use it on sore muscles. If you want the crystals to revert back faster you can lay it flat in the refrigerator. Cooling in room temperature takes longer.
Summary: I don't understand why people are using this FLEXIBLE cooling place mat on a desk. The mat is designed for people who use the laptop for a couple of hours sitting in a chair or laying in bed and don't want burning hot legs. The mat won't cool the laptop at all. All it is designed to do is be rigid enough to keep the laptops internal fans clear for fresh air and at the same time keep your legs from feeling the heat.
Pros: I've owned this for more than a year and it is by far my favorite accessory for my laptop. * works as intended * Keeps my legs from getting hot when sitting or laying in bed *lasts for 3+ hours
Cons: * Does not last forever. Its not an active cooling process. Just stores the heat until you take the laptop off. * keep it flat after it heats up. Otherwise get lumps DO NOT USE ON A DESK. Your laptop has feet already to keep it off the desk. or get a active cooling fan.
