Very basic

14 September 2009
  • Summary: My main goal was to get a heatsink that did not have a proprietary fan / mounting system, etc. My stock intel fan has been going out slowly, causing a lot of vibrations, etc. There did not seem to be a direct replacement easily available.
  • Pros: Simple Removable non-proprietary fan Mounting Plate for fan is also removable Cheap
  • Cons: No copper on heatsink Fan is somewhat noisy Didn't improve my P4 3GHz over stock heatsink

A Quiet Replacement

Anonymous, Newegg
22 August 2009
  • Summary: Replacement for a heat sink/fan with broken clips on a Celeron motherboard that I pulled from my Dad's old system to use a NAS server. I would've preferred a lower profile heat sink block but the free shipping made this one a bargain.
  • Pros: The fan (60mm) was quieter than the old fan (80mm).
  • Cons: I was surprised that the heat sink block was identical to the old one.

  • Summary: Very easy to install, comes with thermal paste. Good for my Pentium 4.
  • Pros: Very easy and sturdy install. The clamps are good quality. It does a great job of keeping things cool.
  • Cons: The fan is a bit loud and the fan doesn't sound "fluid" while it spins all the time. You can sometimes hear a sandy sound coming from the spinning fan.
